I usually place 1k as soon as I build the harvester, that usually lasts for close to a day for the small harvesters.

After you do that, select status...if it doesn't give you enough time, place more into it. I would recommend against placing any less than 1k though.

Harvesters and any other structures which require maintenance and power have a cost associated with them. You can find this cost by looking at the "Status" of the structure. You access this through the menu by clicking on the structure and selecting status from the menu options.

Power Cost and Maintenance Cost may show up as 25/KH or 30/KH. What this means is it will charge you 25 power source per "real" hour and 30 credits per "real" hour. If you decided you wanted to run the harvester for 2 weeks for instance, based on the following costs it would be the following:

Power Cost at 15/KH

Maintenance Cost at 30/KH

Power Cost = 25 x 24 hours = 600 per day (600 x 14 days) = 8400 power.

Maint. Cost = 30 x 24 = 720 creds per day (720 x 14 days) = 10080 credits.

This is just an example scenario and costs differ per structure. I hope this helps.

In the above post power is supposed to be 25 not 15.

I want to be a master medic/combat medic/rifleman. this leaves me no skill points to dabble in artisan so i will not be able tosurvey my own resources. What exactly do harvesters do and are they able to gather the materials that I would normally have to survey for to make my meds?

What exactly do harvesters do

Harvestors are small structures that, well, harvest resources from the ground. There are different types of harvestors for different types of resources.

are they able to gather the materials that I would normally have to survey for to make my meds?

Absolutely. I have 2 harvesters right now. I have a mineral extractor (for in-organics) and a micro flora farm (for organics). Those are the two most used resources when contructing my stim-packs.

The benifit of harvestors is that they are always mining resources, even when you are offline. The caveat to this is that you must supply them with power and credits. My two harvesters need ~1400 credits per day to operate (for the maintenance cost), and some amount of power. I have a wind power generator that needs about 1500 credits per day (for the maintenance cost) which supplies WAY more power than I need.

Depending on what I'm mining, I can usually produce about 1k to 2k of resources per day. That's alot considering I'm only making stim-packs!

I use my survey skills for the other resources. I think this combination is a good trade-off.

Don't forget, you also won't need those extra points that you would normally put into Artisan for a LONG time! I'm up to Survey4 right now. When I start running out of skill points I'll start pulling out of the Artisan skill tree, but not until then.

Hope this helps.

The deeds for harvestors are under MISC and the Deeds in the bazzar, what server are you on and what planet are you on. I can answer better if I know that. If you are on the server Naritus. Contact me in game and I will hook you up with one.
