Thread: New Structure...
Apartment buildings!!!!!!
Rent out the floors!
The people renting do not have to use lots.
Only problem is who is so poor not to buy a small house?
A Mall seems to be a good idea, but again, limited in sales. If placed by the city, it would offer some added security for vendors and allow for planetary advertisement.
If we are going to do this kind of thing - how about a PC hotel.
PC buildings like the cantina should be able to be enhanced as well, an option to hire NPC bands/dancers next to the vendor tab. Make thier heal rates horrible but at least they would be there.
Road for PC's as well as bridges tho those are not really buildings per say.
Creature Handlers want a "stable" for pets in the worst way.
Different house types would be very nice, how about a tatooine house that actually goes underground like Skywalkers? Make a "villa" or "manor" a large type house with a fenced in yard complete withgardens/fountains - that would sell like hotcakes.
YES ON THE MALL!!!!!
I am about to set up a tatooine PA hall as a mall anad would rather havereal mall with less slot take up!
What is the time frame on this mall idea?! Because I do not feel like waiting around forever for it I was going to place the mall in the next week or so.

Mall.. This could be set up to easily .. I invision a building the size of a cantina.. one open main area with several small rooms that have an open wall towards the center.. This building could only be placed by a master Merchant..who would then rent out spots for others to place vendors.. (maybe the merchant can set a % of profit tax.. (like city sales tax) to get his rent)... To make this more of a needed structure make it so Vendors CANNOT be placed in PA halls.. (they were never intended to be houses or Malls) You could then have a small basement or 2nd floor that could act as the merchants living area.. its ok ...but limited....i mean how many malls can we sell
Crafting Workshop... I like this too.. you could use the shell of the current PC Med Center.. first main room as the shop.. and second room as storage.. area.. This shop would give crafter a slight bonus to crafting.. and be craft specific.. so there would be maybe 3 different types.. categorized like the factories.. also instead of having the current 75 per 1 lot ratio most houses have.. this should have a 100 per 1 lot ratio .. it ok
Generic City Building.. A large open building for player cities .. that the city could own.. I am not 100% sure how the floor plan would look but a generic building that could be named.. and used for many diferent things.. City ware house.. museam.. library .. jail.. university.. maybe a larger version of the generic mediums.. nice and simple with alot of room to be creative.. making these city owned would give room for PC's to start being creative in how they develope their cities..
Well what do you think ... I want to present an Idea by this Sunday.. If you have an Idea please post it in the same format I have done these three.. Keep your explenation to 4 or 5 lines.. too please.. Thursday I will pick the more popular Building and start a thread on that to further discuss that one specific Idea over the weekend....
The mall would not be able to be a civic structure (in the placed by the mayor sense, limit it to PC's is fine I suppose although would restrict your sales) for the same reason that bazaars can't be placed in town. What if the mayor decides to be an ass and destroy the mall or the city? What happens to the vendors and the items etc? You could have it stay there after a city is destroyed I suppose but still giving mayor sovereignty over all your vendors in a sense just isn't a good idea. So have it be like a cantina/med center/theatre or just have it be a nice looking 6 lot building. It is a great idea though and would deffinitely be a good addition.
I have a great idea for the floorplan of a militia building that could come with faction aligned cities or making the militia a separate entity from the mayor (appointed militia head that defaults as mayor and works like a PA terminal so some militiamen are given more power then others) Here's a description that you can kinda envision it in your mind.
Large open door ala cantina or PA hall, if they want to keep the stupid "load hallway" then have that the same as either a cantina or PA hall. It would open into a large room about the size of a cantina. At the 2/3rds of the room there will be steps going down into a main pit (again similiar to a cantina only across the whole of the floor). In the pit at the far wall there will be a raised podium or dais, and behind that a terminal for militia control (if they ever screw around with militia). 2 doors will exist on the back wall either in the center and hidden to an extent by the dais or at the edges. The door on the left will lead to amedium corellian sized room (the U shaped house) that is empty except for a door at the back which would lead to the outside (give it a hallway if needed again) The door on the right would lead to another room about the size of a medium corellian room, maybe a tad bigger in size, that is a row of 3 cells with a hallway leading straight from the door tot he back.
It would essentially look like a jail if you want, a station house if you want, or a courthouse if you want. Just an idea anyway.
Like a small city structure that you could place in a player city.
It would have a Imp or rebel recruiter inside.
Warehouse is a must maybe make it a player city structure able to hold 100 items and beable to place like 2 or 3 of them per city have a warehouse district.
Also I like the idea of proffesion specific shops.
Like have a droid shop with broken droids outside the front door and things like that.
The apartment idea is a good one if it was city ran and allowed extra storage. Like 50-75 items per apartment.
And maybe a milita building that only milita members are allowed in and you can stock pile weapons or what ever inside.
guys.... i would try and stay away from just city/civic structures...
we need to focus on stuff that can be built anywhere by anyone....
I would be surprised if more than 1/2 the players actually lived in a player city....lets be honest...most are populated by mules..
also most cities seem to fail and with the new restrictions its hard for them to grow...
many "towns" i see have gone from city to outpost over the past couple of months
As an example...i have sold tons of houses, tons of guild halls, many merchant tents and tons of havestors...
sold maybe 5 city halls, 1 hospitol and 1 shuttle port....i have had some cantinas on my vendor since they came out...
like someone else said, the cities have their own architects....
I cant tell you how many times i have been invited to join a city or a guild....they dont really care about me, they just want free stuff
if we get new city structures i think it should be things like bridges, arches and walls...these items would not be sold as schematics but must be built onsite by the architect
