Thread: What Sells??

This may be pretty general but here goes:

What items sell really well and on a frequent basis? I am 4-3-0-4 Architect and ive been stocking houses and civic buildings and they do ok, maybe sell a large house a week and havent sold many smalls or mediums really. Could be a pricing issue though will check the vendor search when i get home and change pricing accordingly. In your experiences though, what could I stock and have a hard time keeping up with? Furniture seems to have its phases, usually the person I sell the house to will buy up a bunch of furniture but other than that, it just sits there. Maybe i should add my name to the list of Architects? I currently have a stock of 2000 structural modules and 1000 wall modules, also have at least 400 of all the other components so making any number of any size houses is not a problem. Im just seeking some advice as my main business is Tailor and i have 5 seperated vendors for different items and only 1 set aside for all architect. Should I try to split the architect vendor into furniture and deeds? I started only making the deeds and since ive decorated several houses in town I had tons of leftover stuff so i went ahead and posted it for sale on the same vendor. I also have made several moisture vaporators in stock and i just posted a bunch of equipment factories. Since my tree in architect is limited due to the fact i have mastered Artisan, Tailor, and Merchant as well.

Harvestors have been what sells best for me. When I make a bunch of BER 13 harvies they fly off my vendors like hotcakes. Obviously tho you can't make these! SO.... as far as structures go, large houses, guild halls, cantinas and hospitals are what sell best for me. Medium houses do decent. This could definitely vary server to server tho. I'm on Tarquinas, very low population. So when you do a vendor search for deeds you'll find very little in the way of civic structures and large homes. On larger servers this might be different.

Furniture wise I do factory runs of most pieces and sell crates of plants/lights/candles/chairs. Those sell really well for me.

I hope this helps for you, I'm sure others can give great input!

I make some furniture, but I don't really enjoy it. I like structures -- I don't sell that many civic structures, but I do sell some. Most of my business these days seems to come from fountains and medium homes. Large homes do a decent business too, and that seems to be picking up.

Obviously some furniture items sell better than others. I sell a lot of torches, street lamps, and data terminals.

Thank you all for your great input!! Anything else you can think of? I only have up to 4-3-0-4 so I dont have the ability to make the guild halls and stuff in the x4xx box. Too bad we are limited on skill points I would love to have master architect as well! Speaking of which, I was thinking about dropping some stuff so i can finish off the rest of Architect, or maybe just x4xx. Heres my template so far and i have 1 remaining skill point:

Master Artisan

Master Merchant

Master Tailor

Architect 4-3-0-4

Any suggestions as to what I should drop? Im torn cause I love tailor and it seems master is where the good stuff comes in. Also I would need the survey tree on Artisan cause I harvest a lot of my own resources. Maybe Ill make a schematic for a few dozen swoops then drop master artisan and the xx4x part of artisan tree. That should prolly do it i would think? Cant drop any merchant cause I like the reduced maintnance fees and need all the vendors I can get, also since im tailor and rely on people to be able to see my work, I need to be able to play dress up on my vendors. Is there anything else I may be able to drop that is not that important? Guess I should take a careful look at my tree and decide.

Why, SOELA, why? Did the entire management join a cult, and at the same time perform home lobotomies?
It takes less time to look at the stickies than to ask a question and wait for sarcastic replies. So please oh PLEASE ask the same question many times. I enjoy the sarcastic remarks.

Although I love my master merchant and can't bring myself to drop any of it...the first tree in merchant isn't as important as the rest imo. That would allow you to master archy.

By the first tree do you mean the one on the left or the right? And what does that tree do again?

Sorry! The advertising tree. You get your vendors on the planetary map...which since vendor search has been introduced isn't quite as important as it used to be. Tho some would disagree

Yeah, I'm one of them... Many people still have difficulty with the vendor search (why, I don't know) and so many still visit vendors in the appropriate categories via the map.

So I'd recommend Merchant 3404. You get the planetary map, all your efficiency short of master (including the ability to place merchant tents), and lots of vendors. For a tailor, you might feel like it doesn't work because you can't display your wares (you wouldn't have the Hiring line, including Hiring IV: Uniforms), but I personally am skeptical of how much difference it really would make. After all, you can't actually designing clothes; much like architect, your clothes look the same as everyone else's.

I am offended... Althought the styles look the same, the clothing color selections are different. Color makes a world of difference, besides, im so used to having spiffy uniforms on my vendors, I just created another and remembered how ridiculous the clothing looks that they come with. Just kidding about being offended, I really do appreciate the info. Not sure how much difference the planetary map makes either, but its nice to see where the shops are located on the map when im running through town.

In my guild mall where I host seven vendors, it's against management policy to switch on barking so I was able to get rid of that tree. In terms of planetary advertising, I had it for a while and eventually dropped that too and never really noticed a huge difference in sales.

I mastered artisan, although the Engineering tree is the only tree required for architect. At the same time, however, I found that I was much more independent if I just mastered artisan...a lot of artisan subcomponents go into structures and so forth and I didn't want to have to pester others to make schems for me.

So the template that I've ended up with is Master Artisan, Master Architect, Master Droid Engineer and 0-0-4-4 of the Merchant template. This way, I can drop a variety of vendors, don't have to worry about maxing out my vendors, and I can dress them up any way I want.

Very good idea, it looks like you also dropped the ability to place the merchant tents though. Hmm.. Im so torn, in my case, I do not allow factories or harvestors to be inside city limits, so i have all my factories outside of town. Problem is that there are nasty cl 20 creature spawns outside of town that tend to kill my non combat toon when im working on the factories so I have a merchant tent there. It does seem useless now that I have been killed a dozen time while in my tent since the creatures just come through the walls of houses now. I think i will have to go with that.. What is the max items without the master merchant box? Something like 4000?
