So I hope that architects have some roll in the new feature coming to jtl where players can mine asteroids for unique resources that can't be gained on ground? perhaps crafting equipment for them at the very least?

One would logically come the the conclusion that we would be highly involved at least with construction of the mining equipment. Unless they plan on releasing some sort of Space Cowboy profession.

The posts elsewhere seem to indicate that it will not take any special equipment to do the space-mining. In fact, from everything I've read it looks like this is an incredibly dumbed-down version of "Asteroids". People just need to go out and blast away at asteroids and then collect the "looted" resource.
Wishfull thinking on all our parts I'm afraid...we've been left out in the cold again

i think that it would be great if you had to have special equipment to mine the asteroid and stuff like that. not that just blast away the asteroid and collect the resources.

DE's play a major role in Droid Interfaces as far as ships go. I really wouldn't be surprised to see us be able to craft mining modules for ships.

From the looks of it, these resources will probably not be used for crafting. If I have read the RotW forum correctly, it looks like once you are done mining you will sell the asteroid resources to a terminal in the spaceport. Its just a credit mining thing.
Although, I was not looking forward to amassing 500k stacks of a new resource.

You're kidding?
Why do they consistently take really good ideas, and then implement them in the most stupid and meaningless way possible?

Probably following the principle, "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
