Thread: ATTN: A suggestion for this profession (PLEASE READ)
I was doing a bit of brainstorming yesterday afternoon. I was trying to come up with some good ideas to make the overall dynamics of this game well, more appealing, and more interesting. For get combat for now, this game isn't all about theboringgrind, or howgreat your character is in combat.
I believe this suggestion can make this profession much more interesting, and it can also make the game a bit more interesting. Architects should be able to build the houses, not build the deeds for houses.

A) This would eliminate much of the reason for an architect to operate a shop with vendors.
They wouldn't need vendors if they are making cash. Do you realize the abunanace of structures that are being placed everyday ? And besides, structures likes harvestors and factorys will still be in deed form.
B) If your intent is to impliment this on all deeds, the moving of harvesters with each resource shift would become a nightmare
Harvesters would be a different sceranio. I mean for city structures.
C) From what I hear the Jedi community would greatly oppose this idea
And why would they appose this idea ?
D) Although I agree this might be a great idea in regards to interaction with other players, it would be a massive time sink taking time away from surveying, harvester runs, making components, factory runs, ect.
How would it be a massive time stink ? This wouldn't apply to harvesters. It wouldn't apply to factorys. It will apply to city structures.
I do not wish to seem negative here. I am just trying to look at the "big picture"

Yes I make a good portion of them on Corbantis.

I have never played a Jedi, but have been told by a few that it is a favored tactic that when a BH is after them to quickly set up a small house that the BH can't enter.

In the same time that your idea would have me set one house, I could craft dozens of deeds at my shop.

Well excellent. That is an exploit anyways. I'm sure Obi-wan ran around with "houses" in his pockets, and built one as soon as a Bounty Hunter came after him, in about 5 seconds.

There is no dynamics to clicking on a deed and a house automatically builds itself. I'm sure you would agree, that if this could be set up so you make the same ammount of money (which you will, since people need structures placed) you'll support this idea. You could get contracts with mayors to build entire citys. Wouldn't that be fun ? You could expand on current citys, and help design them, offer input, and get paid for it.

Like Pawlin said, we sell the deed/contract to build. Just alittle roleplaying aspect that gets over looked as we take it for granted. If this game was a single profession per player, this would add content to architects but its not, and I know by my vendor sales, I do more sales while offline than i do when im at my station crafting the restock items that i sold the night before. I play maybe 2 hours a night on my architect, most of my work is done in my 8 factories. i hardly craft things by hand anymore other than factory schematics.
Good idea, but I don't think its place is here in SWG.
