Thread: Why are you an Architect?

In my early days I started out with a rl friend in the game. Started out by doing a bit of scout with some artisan, and eventually I made some money mining resources with my l337 BER 4 minerals.

After a while my friend took up AS so I decided to take up an elite crafting profession as well and so chose Architect.

Primarily at the time I was in awe of how much BER 13's could go for and so the £ sign flash up before me.

Once I'd got into the profession though I appreciated it for other reasons. A good example would be when I was making

gardens for a mayor. I was with him when he planted them down in his city and I couldn't believe how happy this made him.

It's those kinda moments that make this game worth playing for me.

(ps I had no idea how the gardens were going to look before I made them :smileyvery-happy

I also like the creative side with the furniture and how you can really personalise a building by using your imagination.

I was so poor I didn't have cash for harvesters, so in my ignorance and n00bness, I decided to master some crafting professions, so I could make my own stuff. I started with Architect because that was the first one on the list. I immediately liked it, and started to forget about mastering the other professions, and even forgot about combat. After being an Architect for 8 months I still like it (despite some annoyances) as much as when I started.

I had already mastered Tailor and Merchant, and I was looking for my next prof. I thought about Musician, Image Designer, and Architect. I ended up picking Architect mostly because it cost me less skill points since I already had Engineering, and I wanted to save some skill points to be a Politician. I have had lots of fun making furniture for myself and for sale. I refuse to do factories or harvestors because they're far too complicated for me, and I don't have many resources, and those that I have are generally poor quality lol.

I wanted to be a crafter but didn't know what specific profession to do.

My guild didn't have an architect and early on we were in fairly high demand so I chose that route.

I started out entertaining. During the boring ID grind part, I decided to do some crafting to pass the time. I liked that even better, and after mastering artisan, decided to go architect to make my own harvesters and continue crafting.

Since then I've tried Armorsmith (hated it) and am currently a master Tailor as well (enjoying it so far). If I decide to change profession again, it will be dropping tailor, because I love making structures and furniture. I just wish we could customize it a little with some color!

I wanted to build and sell large things.

In the end i have never sold anything, and the only large things i have buildt is my home(a guildhall) and a factory.

But i love architect. And then especially the furniture tree

Ive always dug architect, even played around with it in the original beta for awhile, but when I made an alt to be our cities mayor it seemed natural to make him a master architect/master merchant, so thats what i did.

The vast majority of my architect duties are taken up making endless free small houses for new citizens so we always have them on hand, loads of paintings and candles, a good amount of furniture, and every once and awhile i get hit up for a big project like 12 harvestors or a guildhall, but that comes in phases.

Otherwise i keep a general selection of architect goodies on my vendor and they sell quite regular which is nice.

I was going to be a DE, and had just got myself three medium minerals to get some nice steel on naboo. Next thing I knew someone had planted a city hall next to them!

Seeing as how I was feeling a bit rich having just made a fair amountselling speeders on the patch day I joined the city to find they needed an architect. Seeing as my plan was at the time just DE I took up the role and Mastered by selling houses and interior design to the good folk joining the city, and then donating most of the civic amenities (even if the mayor couldn't place cause of the lvl 4 city cap).

Eventually left live and recently took up Architect on TC after a couple of our high profile Architects left and I wanted some decent harvs and knew how I could get them, Mastered in a weekend after setting aside some materials I had collected for SW, wasn't really rushing it.

...is still tracking down more bugs
NB: Any comments I make on TC code can and often do change
before they reach live and may not reach live at all, please read my
