This is not an effort of any one smuggler alone. It is a collective effort of the Smuggler community as we try to better understand our abilities. It is our hope that this FAQ will help newcomers and veterans alike. Thanks to everyone in the Smuggler community that's contributed their help in one way or another.

However, plans on how a Smuggling (PvE only, for the time being at least) system will be implemented have been posted in the In Concept forum (although at the time of Publish 19 going onto Test Center, the post detailing the Smuggler Experience concept was removed/deleted).

What Weapon Certifications are granted in the Smuggler tree?

What is a Smuggler's role in combat?

Smugglers are designed to be the top crowd control profession in the game. At the moment they fall short of that considerabley, but the future will hopefully bring with it change for the better.

What are crowd control and mezing?

Crowd Control is a form of combat that focuses on causing problems for an enemy, rather than destroying them outright; this may be in the form of restricting or stopping their movement, lowering their accuracey, rate of fire etc. as well as preventing them from attacking.

Mezzing is short hand for mesmerising and in game terms means keeping your enemies from acting, i.e. moving to attack you.

  • What does Concussion Shot do?

Concussion Shot does less damage than a standard shot, its multiplier being around 0.25 (for the improved special). The shot has two effects on a target; on the one hand it roots the target to the spot, preventing movement, while at the same time dazing the target, which prevents it from attacking, healing etc.

It is important to not that while the effects last for 40 seconds, they will be cease to be in effect immediately should the target take any form of damage in combat.

    What does Last Ditch do?

Last Ditch is a high risk special that allows you to do what its name implies, a last ditch attempt at taking out your opponent. The damage it deals is inversely proportional to your character's health, so if you have been heavily damage and are on the verge of being incappacitated, the damage the shot will do will be extremely high (depending on the weapon being used, around 2000-4000, although higher has been acheived), while a character with a full ammount of health will do very little damage.

The downside that causes the risk involved in using Last Ditch is that your entire HAM bar is reduced to 1%, leaving you open to instant incappatication should you either miss, or your damage not be sufficient to incappacitate your opponent. The ability also has a longer than average cool down period, preventing you from using it repeatedly while in combat

    What does Overwhelming Shot do?

This special reduces a target's ability to resist state effects (e.g. blindness, dizzyness, fear etc.)

    What does Feign Death do?

Once you give the feign death command, should your attempt be successful, you will fall down and be unnattackable. You will stay down until you choose to get up by giving a stand command. MOBs will not attack you while you are in this incap state and will eventually wander back to their lair/spawn place. If you have moved away so that you are far enough from your attacker, upon standing you will be left alone; however, if you are within their agro range, they will re-aggro you when you stand, so be ready.

In PvP combat successfully using Feign Death means you will not be attackable, although there are abilities that will bringg you out of Feign Death, such as the Jedi's healing skills Heal States and Total Heal.

    What does Low Blow do?

Low blow does less damage than a standard shot, its multiplier being around 0.25, but is supposed to slow down an enemy's attack speed.

    What does Reckless Shot do?

Reckless shot causes a damage multiplier of just under 1.6 (for the advanced special) at the expense of a Smuggler's defence (reducing it by at least 40 points) while using it.

    What does Restraining Shot do?

Restraining does less damage than a standard shot, its multiplier being around 0.5; the special does however reduce a target's movement speed.

    What does Panic Shot do?

Panic Shot causes only one point of damage but causes the target to be dazed, as in Concussion shot; indeed, Panic shot is designed to be a backup for Concussion shot should your target be inadvertantly damaged before concussion shot's timer runs out.

I didn't notice any references to beer or pie in there.

    Great job Wes!

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Great as usual Wes. However, you did spell "Armor" wrong every single time.

Houw about this? Is this enough u's four you? Our should I add moure? Our is this touou many?

there's a good reason for putting U's in words. And it's right up there in the FOUR. and the OUR. It changes the wourd. In places where the U douesn't dou anything at all, it's useless. Therefoure you Britouns are just being frivoulous. Sou Stoup it, Stoup being frivoulous.

    Wes,

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't a Level 1 Critical Strike slice use a Simple toolkit?

Just for clarification, a master smuggler I use says that biolinked weapons cannot be sliced once they have been linked. Is he mistaken?

To be honest I don't know what's going on with this, as I'm able to slice bio-linked armour fine. It's a bug that some people have and others (assuming I'm not the only one) don't
