Thread: SOE fired a single mother with underaged children?
Of course, Sony is a company that recently put a ROOTKIT allowing spyware and worse on a PC that bought one of their music CD's.
And they are being sued for it. Sony=Enron in ethics.

The rootkit was fun. Especially because I tried it under Linux. Idiots.

Blizzard are no better they have had something in WoW for a lot longer than Sony have had. In fact the Sony 'rootkit' actually helps you defend against the Blizzard bit of spyware.

It would appear because nobody with the authority to make the change feels they're not doing their job.

That just raises the question, Why of all people was Tiggs let go?.. in terms of job competancy that we've seen, she is by far the most dedicated and competant person related to SOE we've interacted with yet.
The other Community Reps?.. when do we ever hear anything out of them other than the one-liners, Features,and patch notes?
The Devs?.. When have they done anything properly involved in the coding of this game lately? Or the testing of it?
And before someone gives me that "You try coding a game of this scale.. blah blah blah". I admit it, I can't. But I'm well aware of the business principle that if you're going to put something for sale - MAKE IT WORK FIRST.
I understand some bugs will get through the testing phase, such as minor insignificant NPCs in the middle of nowhere not working.
But a bug such as the BE Clothing bug that went untouched for months, with no word on it - that's unacceptable.
We pay to playa completed game, not do the beta testing for their lazy asses who can't be bothered to test things properly. I won't comment on the recent issues with TC, because that's what it's there for. But there a million other bugs in the Live game that can be avoided, or at least picked up with basic testing on SOEs part.
The executives?.. when in recent memory have they made a single decision that actually helped this game? Every attempt at gaining new players alienates and pisses off the existing player base. We are put on the back burner because they already have our money, they need new sources of income while we rot. Then their desperate bids at appeasing us just end in failure anyway due to their half-assed ideas, their non-existant facts, the famous "focus groups" giving input that is contradictory to the majority of the player base.. etc The list goes on and on.
And what about Tiggs?.. As a Community Representative I feel she performed her job to the best of her abilities and beyond the scope of her capacity.
Player Interaction - Pulled this off beautifully. To many, she was the non-existant face of SOE. How many other red-names were as active or visible as her?.. how many of them had friends among the players- not just a radical fanbase like Thunderheart or some of the others?.. How many of the other red-names did players actively search out ingame to meet and converse with?.. how many of them were considered to be fellow players as well as SOE employees?..
NONE! By using red-name I'm referring to any SOE related staff of these forums, although emphasis on other Community Reps.
Player Liason - Once again, every major issue that came up, she had a sticky or at least a few posts related to it. She always promised to bring it up with the devs, and I have no doubts that she did. It was the devs/execs decisions not to take her up on those suggestions but I'm confident she always went to bat for us.
As for those who said she lied/didn't tell us enough - she could only tell us what was cleared for us to know by her superiors. Even if she knew about the NGE since August, only once that douche-bag Julio Torres posted his BS "Letter to the Community" and they gave her the OK, could she begin to comment on the NGE. Whatever she was told to tell us, she told us.. she was SOEs scapegoat and meatshield. They used her to weather the brunt of player attacks when they made a bad decision that they knew the fans would react against.
Bug reporting - not even her direct job but she *STILL* took that upon herself to handle that for us as well.
I know I'm probably missing a few of the duties that were assigned to her but I can't think straight right now (side effect of being totally tweaked on caffine + it being 2am.. not to mention still seething internally). Point is, she was a shining example of everything the other SOE employees we have interacted with wasn't. It saddens me seeing her go, but even more seeing that she wasn't even appreciated with all she did for us. I'm almost rabidly anti-SOE and even I had a special place for her just because she wasn't even in my "SOE-scum" group.. she was the sole member of my "SOE-members" group.
the timing of this firing is just TERRIBLE.
imagine firing an employee on the eve of the holiday season. thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. what are they going to do?

Any company that will pull a bait-n-switch on their fanbase (both uber 3yr vets and the newer ones who just loved the game) on the magnitude that they did with the NGE and Trials of Obi-Wan cannot be expected to be very high on the "business morality" scale. Very little of this surprises me.. they just needed a sacrificial body to throw to the w01v3s.. (ie: ranting nublets blaming her for the NGE)
