And I don't know if I would consider Green Day a punk band. IMO after Dookie they kind of went downhill.

You know, I kinda expected to see a list of the new "punk" bands. Glad to see there's the old-timers on the list.
Me, I'm a sorta Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, X, Social Distortion, The Meatmen, The Exploited, The Misfits, The Clash, The Ramones, Angry Samoans, Circle Jerks, The Vandals, Johnny Cash (that's right! as a better man than I once put it "Johnny Cash could kick Maralyn Manson's arse any day of the week"), X-Ray Specs, Buzzcocks, The Damned, Fear, and the Sex Pistols, type guy myself.
Too bad my bones are a bit too brittle for the pit anymore. It's hard to mosh after 30.

I always tell people, Stop listening to genres... start listening to MUSIC.
Theres so much around that you are crippling yourself by listening to a specific type, and you can bet your life the bands you listen to, listen to far more than the genre their music is slotted into.
Far to many closed minded zealots in this world that "only listen" to this or that.

I quite like being a 'closed minded zealots', its warm and cosy in my head and there's nothing that can hurt me, why would I want to let a draft in like indi-rock or the pack of wild animals that is jazz

Didn't greenday have a ska song? Can't remember. That was back when i was really into madness. I think punk is going through a third revival. Everyone is coming back.

personally I think greenday's new sounds is really really bad, I'm a huge fan of their older work, but their latest album, It fills me with the urge to kill

I'll bite...
Gotta go with Iggy Pop and Bowie to start....then climb to Sex Pistols, Ramones, Siouxie & The Banshies, we move onto Minor Threat & Black Flag and then Offspring, Atari Teenage Riot (maybe not quite punk but they work for me), and possibly Greenday (wasn't crazy about them at first and thought they were just another poser wanna-be the nextSex Pistols band).

already mentioned that, though technically it's not ska, and really not all that punk either, they covered an Operation Ivy song on one of their earlier albums, 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is the only album I think it's on right now, which is a compilation of their first album, and their early EPs. The song is Knowledge.

and if i knew how to queto others in the same post i'd dothe one about eniem and garth brooks in the same playlist. as that would describe me too but then i listen to pantera god smack slayer and a long list of other MUSIC.
