Being a factioned WS I am under constant demand to furnish our bases' 14 minefields with crates every few days. I do the crates for free and take the hour or so it takes toempty my invent, unpack all the mines (so the crates don't get bugged) and go through the tedious taskof donation.
Thing is, I enjoy to PvP every once in a while (I'm master pistol too). Now of late when our bases or city is raided I take delight in watching my mines at work.
Or at least I did: seems that these days mines are more of a threat than a help to our loyal NPC troops. When rebels attack they are always buffed (who isn't nowadays?) and running over minefields is moreamusing for them that it is dangerous. On the other hand I have witnessed overts kiting our NPCs over towards the minefields where they get caught and killed in the blast radius. So mines are more of a hassle for me now than anyting else.
Isn't it time the damage on these got buffed? Yes I know that we should power them up or have them sliced but TBH who has the invent space and the time to do all that for 14 minefields? ...and really what is the gonna be the outcome? In RL people running over mines causes instant death. Armour shouldn't really stop much of the blast. But for mines to merely tickle a buffed overt while killing NPCs is a joke.
Not easy to fix the Area of effect coding, I know, so perhaps mines should be made to do random status effects or something, rather than the puny damage they do now. By status effect I mean that explosions should blind on occasion, or stun, or intimidate. Not all the time but perhaps on a % basis. This would make them more an effective defence weapon instead of the waste of time and resources that they are now.
As they stand now, mines are no deterrent. I don't sell them simply because I donate all mine. The donation process itself is also a pain. The use of the ctrl+mouseclick like we see on vendors for retrieving items would be a big help.
So do you sell mines? Do you make them for guild? What would you like to see done?

The big problem is people abuse GCW stuff.
I was playing a neutral character on Bria. Anyways, I got lost in the middle of nowhere on Corellia, and used /find shuttleport to find the closest shuttleport to return to civilization.
Anyways, I get there, and the shuttleport is ON TOP of a minefield, and there were covert detectors and everything there.

I went on a base raid a couple days ago. There were no defenders, so we amused ourselves by running around on top of their minefield until it ran out.
If there's like ten people setting off mines, the area effects might bring someone's health down a small amount, but they're no threat to buffed/armored people in normal situations.

Easy solution... make mines give WOUNDS instead of basic damage. That would make them a serious thread again. But they should only harm overt of TEF'ed players.

I'd have to agree with this. Make the higher end mines AP3 and do full wound damage. This would make them worth something and people would actually try to avoid them (well...try to).
