Hey everyone, just giving myself "props" for finally making it to Master Weaponsmith. Can't wait to delve into the field. Any and all tips/hints/freebies from all you uber smiths out there would be greatly appreciated!!

I also have an alt in the same boat.
My advice?
If you want to be immediatley competitive, you will need to spend many millions of credits filling out your resource stocks with all the named resources you will need. Many of these resources spawn rarely, and some just recently spawned, but with HORRIBLE stats. Rainbow Gems on Bria for example. Ryll Gemstone has spawned TWICE on bria since release.
Many named resources have their important stats capped. I dare you to find polonium iron with a CD over 100.
In the case of WS resources, it's not "what is best?" it's "What is the least horrible?"
Then once you have what you need EXPERIMENT!
Try out different builds on weapons. You should understand how combat and weapons work, even if you're a pure crafter. You will often need to educate your customers.
Also understand that speed and damage are experimented on the same line.
Always used advanced components. Advanced stocks will add damage and wound and accuracy to a rifle, but you pay a penalty in HAM costs and speed. There are always trade-offs, explain these to your customers.
Build up a few demo weapons and keep them on your wall in your shop so people can browse what you make.
I work on mostly custom orders, and I have to sit and consult with the user on what exactly his expectations are, and what I can provide. It's a lot of work building a customer base, but if you do it right they will be loyal. People want and need different things. Sure, i could run crates of guns off and drop them on a vendor, but that's no fun. I like the satisfaction of providing a service to a customer. Giving them exactly what they want.

Thanks for the info. Really helpfull. I'm not really looking to be a "mass producer" of weapons and think I would get a lot more out of the profession by doing custom orders. I have begun to accumulate some of the named resources and have noticed that there is a premium price to be paid. I have gotten lucky and found some on the general vendors for what I would consider a "steal", but that has happened a very few times. I still have a ton or Doctor resources that I need to "dispose" of, and fortunately I have a friend master doc who can use them. Need to free up house space for the extra supplies I will need.
