Heh, I actually had something like that happen once. I was hanging around the Bestine Cantina, chatting with some people. Out of nowhere, someone comes in, and tells me to open the trade window. They then *GIVE* me 2 krayt tissues for free! This was before I made my first million though, and these were the first 2 tissues I ever saw, so it was a big deal at the time
I have to say that I would love to have the luxury to only make custom order weapons like you Xieflow. But that kind of business model pretty much requires an established reputation and deep financial resources so you can buy enhancers (in my view, without enhancers there isn't much point to doing a custom made weapon). It also doesn't help that I hate getting /tells, and making custom-order only weapons would definitely involve lots of /tells.
I would say majority of my custom orders are plain weapons. However, most people never realize the potential customization of a weapon. I'll have one person order a high-accuracy power hammer, and then the next person wants a pure damage DXR6b rifle.
Yeah, I make a fair share of "loot enhanced" weapons. The other thing is... I get a lot of large custom orders. 25 DXR6b rifles for one person, 10 laser rifles 10 jawa ion rifles and 10 gaffi batons for another, etc etc. (I offer 50% discounts on orders of 25 identical weapons or more)
1) Favorite combat profession to play as (I'm sure *some* of you use your own weapons!)?
TK. Where am I going to find the inventory space to hold more uncrated weapons? ![]()
2) Favorite combat profession to sell to?
Commando. Even though rocket launchers are the lowest cpu item I sell, there's nothing quite so pleasing as that large chunk of income in one purchase.
3) Favorite specific weapon to make?
DXR-6b. The novelty of the new weapon and limitted use schematic hasn't really worn off yet.
4) Favorite type of weapon to make?
Rifles (or carbines for the same reason). Lots of customizability. Use a stock or no? Low HAM scope, or high accuracy? Is the little extra damage on the advanced barrel really worth it for the slower speed?
5) Favorite way to sell your weapons? (Vendor, custom order, etc)
Custom orders, but only on occassion. I like the novelty of hand-crafting from time to time, but that doesn't mean I want to do the bulk of my orders that way.
6) Favorite loot?
Krayt tissues. It's cliched, but everyone knows Krayt means uber.
7) Least favorite weapon to make?
AVBUs (or VKs, if I have to stick to weapons). The complexity on these things are too high, and I hate having to make multiple attempts to get a perfect schematic on such a simple thing. Crafting these with high powered motors sends me into nervous fits.
8) Least favorite combat profession to sell to?
Also commandos. Most and least favorite. I like the pricetag, but I hate the resource hogs that all of their weapons are.
9) Least favorite potential customer /tell?
"Hey."
10) Favorite potential customer /tell?
"I just dropped some form-fitted stocks on your vendor for a credit each, since I don't need them." Technically not a potential customer tell, since I'm the one buying, but still one of my favorites. ![]()

----------------------------------
Mine:
1) Carbineer
2) Riflemen, they seem to have the deepest pockets, and they usually request a specific gun instead of "WHAT IS YOUR BEST RIFLE"
3) Gaderiffi Batons 'cause I can get damage to 100%
4) Melee weapons. Much simpler to make, and the stats aren't gated as badly as on some ranged weapons
5) Definately custom order. I make exactly as many weapons as I sell now, and I can have "dynamic" prices based on how I like the client, how much the client buys, etc
6) Form Fitted Stocks!
7) Anything involving *lots* of subcomponents. Don't like making T21s (not enough "profit margin" on those for the ABPHs they use) and I don't like RLs so much I haven't even made one
8) Pistoleer / TKM. Pistoleer of course wants the best krayt whatever. I don't even make VKs because the profit margin is so low, the market is so competitive on VKs, and TKMs are usually ... not nice with their orders "I NEED THE BEST VK WITH 600 MAX DAMAGE AND KRAYTED AND FOR ONLY SIX CREDITS MY BEST FRIEND IS A WEAPONSMITH AND SAID HE CAN MAKE THIS", it's just not worth the effort.
9) Definately the "CAN YOU REPAIR MY WEAPON". I don't do repairs (WS has no bonus listed in any of the boxes for repairs, so the devs may "claim" we get a bonus, but I see none listed), I rarely make repair tools (usually on special request from a customer who wants to repair their own weapons), and customers can repair their own weapons...
10) Definately the "CAN YOU MAKE ME AN UBER _______ (insert weapon name) KRAYTED (even if it can't be krayted) WITH THE BEST DAMAGE AND LOWEST SPEED AND MY BEST FRIEND IS A WEAPONSMITH WHO SAYS HE CAN MAKE THIS FOR 5,000 CREDITS SO CAN YOU DO IT FOR 500?" It's my favorite 'cause it's so funny. I always love the "best friend" clause thrown in at the end.
