I've had a guy tell me he has 1000ut desh copper.. Now I don't believe him for a second but he's willing to put 1 unit on my vendor for 9999999999 to show me. He talked about it being in-game during the first 8 days flurry went live. Now... wth is he on about? Is there any chance of this stuff existing?

i cant really speal for other server i suppose but ive been on eclipse since day 1
desh has a cap of 400 UT
never been higher than 370 tho (on eclipse) but its possible to reach 400 in theory

Aye we had a 372 but thats ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold coming up to 1 year old right about now...

Even if it does exsist, he probably doesn't have enough to do anything with anyway.
Could make some ugly nym enhanced VKs if he has enough though.

/agree... he also said something about polymer with 1000 all stats.

Yes its entirely possible that he has what he says. Caps were not instituted in the game for three weeks. Oweing to the short beta. Now I beleive be gentle on me with this havent heard about this stuff in forever. That when applied to a schematic it just lists as the resources cap.
So he may have it but once he pops it in the machine to run it. It resets to the resource cap. He probabally had it crammed in a container in a mouse droid that he never used. The day I was checking through my stuff I was able to find a kinetic tusken rifle. Just like that. When they nerfed the adamantium bestine tuskens sadly it switched up to energy along side them.
So I would just laugh at him. Its still good and all being its at the cap for the resource, but it isnt the platinum he thinks it is.
If it was dont you think people would be selling it on the tradeforums for millions of credits a unit. They do not because its just a quirky hey look at this thing,

Hmm I don't know about the three week period or the automatic reset thing, but I do know that this stuff does exist. You are correct that caps did not exist early on in game, for how long I do not know maybe it was only the first spawns on each server. But it is true that I do recall one server have like 1k or 999 UT Desh Copper, and I was like wth(this was Nov 2003) so I asked around and that is what I came up with. The resource exists, but I don't know any on my server that are over caps and don't know personally if they will reset.
