Thread: WS Question Regarding Min Damage and looted stocks

Ok, so it seems that min damage plays an important role in PvP. Especially when aura or CoB are involved.

Now, it looks to me like the only enhancement that adds minimum damage are looted stocks. Is that true? I know that they offer no Sac reduction, but there are powerups to help work around that too.

So the question becomes, if I want a good weapon, with a high min damage and resaonably low SAC, what would I use to craft it?

OR

Could a WS make a weapon with a highermin and still keep the SAC reasonably low?

Let's keep the conversation limited to carbines for sake of argument.

LOOTED stocks are around

+25 damage (max and min) and - a small speed mod

CRAFTED stocks are around

-20 SAC and + a small speed mod

choosing a LOOTED stock does increase min damage and your DPS - however at the effective cost of +20 SAC (some WS can get -25 SAC stocks...) i seriously doubt a LOOTED stock weapon could hit the sac cap and leave the WS enough experiment points to hit the max damage cap

Lets use an elite carbine for sake of argument. Could I max damage an elite carbine with the following enhancements:

Enhanced Power Cells +184, -0.7 speed, -7 SAC

Form Fitted Weapon Stock +25 min, +35 max, -.7 speed

If so, could you put 7 or 8 points into SAC and get the SAC down close to the cap?

How low could you get the SAC?

We'll leave speed to the slicing.

Max and Min damage are tied together while experimenting. Once you max your Max damage, you've pretty much maxed your Min damage.

However, if you truly didn't care about the other stats of the carbine, You could ask your weaponsmith to experiment his components for max damage (then SAC with the leftover points). This is a bit of an about-face from what he probably does now, as the conventional wisdom is to max SAC, then speed or damage.

This would give you a gun with a high Max and Min damage, but it would likely be a SAC pig and slow as molasses.

ok when i crafted a krayt elite carb would come out at 79 sac pre experiment useing a CRAFTED stock (-22 SAC)

sooo..

using looted stock capping damage is no problem at all - probably take 7-8 points or so

but sac hurts with this set up as

79 +22 = 101 base sac pre experiment with a looted stock or 94 once you take into account the -7 on the cells

each point of experiment shaves off 3/4 points of sac

so taking 4 points of sac as a best case scenario

would need to cut sac by 21 to cap sac

that is5/6 points in sac.. under best case - probably need 6/7

SOOOO

doubt its gonna happen.. need 14/15 points to cap both based on my very rough calculations.

Im my opinion the +25 min dam from a looted stock is NOT worth the sac penaulty - the ONLY time it works is if you are only plannign to use ranged shot....

I've been wanting to try making a dmg/spd capped rifle with a crit slice and a sac pup (using pre 23 scope to compensate for the accuracy penalty of the pup).

I don't know how this would work out though. If I cap spd and dmg what would the sac look like? and would a sac pup be enough to lower it down to the usual crafting sac cap of 82?

btw cap for looted enhanced stock are 29min 29max and -.79spd.

if your gonna speed cap rather than damage cap youll lose a whole lot of sac

a 34% sac pup will probably cut it down to 73 sac but it will be an inferior weapon to a damage/sac weapon with a speed powerup

I keep hearing that due to game mechanics the cap on mod speed is 1.3. If this is true than anything lower would be a waste. With my master bh, master rifleman, carb 0440 I can get a rifle with 2.5 speed down to about 1.5 mod speed. I would easily hit 1.3 if I capped speed. And anything lower than 82 sac would be a bonus. I don't know exactly how much dmg a crit slice would add but I hear its not bad.

The issue that I am trying to address is min damage. Since as you can tell, I am a bounty hunter, and the higher the min damage, the more damage I will do per shot. I am not sure that it will make enough difference, but I wanted to see.

It may be that an unenhanced (krayt, cells, gorax, casing) might provide a good platform for testing this.

Thanks for your input folks.

the basic trade your making here is 30 points in min damage for 10-15 points in action - if that is worth it to you then a WS on your server should be able to make something for you - but dont expect a looted stock weapon to be maxed out opn the damage line (as you would want it to be for the highest min damage) and capped on sac as well
