I know that pups are an artisan item, but im posting this question on both boards...
Is it me or is experimenting on the "uses" non effective? Ive notice that no matter what, once you put the pup on your gun it defaults to "uses left: 500"....so should i just be putting all my points into effectiveness??

Makes sense to me...just make sure your customers know that's how it works so they won't judge yours as inferior due to limited useage.

The uses are tied with the efficiency line of experimentation, so there's still value in putting points in that line as it also modifies the secondary stat on the pup. My 14 point artisan max's out effectivness then puts all remaining points into efficiency.

In the case of say a speed / acc pup. the more you experiment to get the reduced speed higher, the higher your negative accuracy mod goes. If you experiment into the accuracy line, the uses goes up, and the negative accuracy modifier goes down.
This was a bad explanation and it's hurting my brain.

Humans have +20 Artisan experimentation innately...so they can become 14 point artisans.

Its +15 so they still need +25 in tapes to max out at 14

Actually you're correct. I noticed that the 'uses' got bugged a couple publishes ago when they 'fixed' the durable lathe powerup from the FS Village. Whatever they did made all powerups apply 500 uses to a weapon instead of the experimented value for uses on the item.
I just haven't complained because I like the extra 250+ uses i'm getting out of my non-efficient powerups now ![]()
There is still reason to experiment on efficiency though, because it decreases the negative attribute of the powerup, so 14 point still means a lot.

And even after humans get 14 exp. points, during crafting they can actually gain 2 more extra points.....Sotheres pontential toactually have 16 pts artisans running around...lol
