Trying to get a sense for when the stock makes sense and when it doesn't.

Well stocks add to HAM costs.

However ALWAYS put on a stock, customer generally never look at ham costs they look at max dmg and speed. So, if you don't, you will have lower max dmg, and the OTHER weaponsmith with a stock will get the sale. Of the thousands of weapons I've sold, maybe under 1% cared about the ham when buying the weapon.

Good advice. So far the only ones I don't put a stock on are the heavy weaons (flame, acid rigle, LLC, etc). I've noticed that it actually lowers the overal DPS. Wondering if there are other weapons that MSs dont put stocks on..?

Besides with food and doc buffs, HAM costs really are not a big deal. I tend to spend my points (11) on damage followed by accuracy. If it is an enhanced weapon, I might choose: damage and then condition. I NEVER choose HAM costs.

Most of my customers dont really care about HAM cost because of doctor buffs, but want the highest damage they can get. My stocked weapons outsell my unstocked by 10:1 easily.

For those few that are concerned, I sell some nice 33% Mind Reduction powerups...

Think about it.

My stock adds 41 min/max increases delay around .3 seconds and ads, I think 10 to ideal range, as well as 29 to every HAM cost.

You really need to sit down and craft some out and try different experimentations to try and find yourself a nice happy medium.

When I tell somebody "sure I can make a 400 damage T-21" they FLIP OUT when they see the Mind cost is like 110. Well, to get the big damage, you have to pay the penalties.

I only add advanced stocks to T21s at present, though I am considering expanding that to Elite and Laser Carbines (for PvP and PvE respectively).

Incidentally, I hit 409 max damage on my stocked T21s with a mind cost right in the high 90's (97-99 usually). Still nasty, but the above poster is right, a lot of people shy away from that 100+ number.

When not buffed, any HAM cost is brutal. 50 mind cost will take an unbuffed rifleman down in a hurry. When buffed with a canape and a brandy or two, even 100 mind cost is meaningless. I offer all rifles and carbines in both unstocked and stocked, only with advanced stocks. I don't use any non-advanced components for anything.

But that's just me.

I got for advance stock and advance scope on all my weapons that has the option for using stock and scope.

This give the leading edge on weapons. Choosing the best wepaons is not only looking at the damage, but at the spee dand the range modifier. Those two are very important as well. HAM is the last thing you look at because of buff being available

i add adv stock on all the weapons that can use them. i max the damage and put the rest of my points into the section that lessens the HAM(cant remember what its called right now)
