I'm not a weaponsmith myself, but I wanted to gather some components to have a powerful carbine made (DXR6, Lazer, Elite, something like that). I asked a weaponsmith I know, and he said to find krayt tissues and looted barrels. So, here are my questions:
1. Assuming he's accurate here, what kind of stats should I be looking for in a looted barrel, and where would be the best place to look for one?
2. Are there any other enhancements I should be looking for?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

You need Blaster rifle barrels
Crafted ones are between 11Max 11Min -.32speed and 9Max 9Min -.45speed; so anything better would be a good find.
Best place to look for them would be your server trade forum, they seem to be a very rare find but when they do turn up they usually have very good stats.
Other than that my guess would be either Krayt dragons or Nightsisters.

Cool, thanks for the info. Oh, by the way. I realize that the odds of actually finding one on your own in the game are, well, slim, but are these really good barrels generally from any random NPC (if I wanted to do a bit of looking myself), or just the higher level ones? Thanks again.

Any popular Master WS on your server should have those 11/11 or 9/9 barrels and they should be fairly cheap as well if you need just one. I think it costs me about 75 resource units to make one and to be honest, if you asked I would probably give you one at no cost. I personally make them in batches of 500.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Actually, I was looking to find something beyond those specs, with the goal of making the strongest gun possible (besides, I actually like trying to find stuff like this). Well, I'll just keep my eyes open, both in game and on the trade forums. Thanks again for everyone's help.
