Currently My char is setup as a Master Artisan, Master Weaponsmith, and Master Merchant

Am looking at what to do with leftover skill points, I plan on dropping all Merchant except for the Efficiency and Management Trees (for the 20% operating costs reduction and the ablity to have 6 vendors legally).

Would I be better off picking up another elite crafting profession (Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, etc.) Or would I benefit more by picking up a combat profession, such as TKA or similar?

With a combat profession, I would have a chance of looting my own components, instead of having to pay through the nose on the Forums for them, but with Armorsmith as second, would be able to afford to buy what I needed?

Am just looking for ideas, so I guess the question would be, what do you carry as a second or third profession in addition to your Weaponsmith?

At risk of stealing the thread, but still mostly to your point .... I think there are several pressures in actionthat will change how a weaponsmith operates.

The loot system is making an ingress into weapon crafting and it appears that SOE is intent on upscaling this system. A non-combat weaponsmith is not going to get any loot to resale on his own. Only guild smiths will have it to profit from everything else will be by contractual agreement with the customer. You may make a little but it will not be worth the huge time investment to do 1 on 1 crafting/sales. As soon as you take the factory out of the loop you have a weapon hobby guy .... not a smith making money.

Conglomerates are forming that sell at a small fraction of what the weapons are actually worth. Even worse, high end weapons are selling at less than one Doc buff. No doubt SOE will step in and correct this by making the max durability on weapons 100

Creatures are promised to become tougher. Remember what it was like trying to fight your way out to your harvester when you were a Novice Marksman? The crafter is being left behind in this again.

There may ba a clear need to resort to the mission terminals to keep your fleet of harvs going or expand it because of the forgoing. The options seem to be to become involved in a conglomerate or similiar situation or prepare for a different kind of enviornment than we have had in the past. Obviously if you are already large, rich, and have a client base none of this applies to you .... Az'.

As for me, I dropped scout, novice bf healing entainer, and will be dropping all merchant. I am picking up Master Pistoleer and will use one vendor that I receive in the Artisan bus3 block. I am keeping MAster Artisan. What that allows me to do is to operate in the "NEW AHAZI" that both SOE and a hyper-inflated economy is bringing about.

Just something to think about

Master Weaponsmith, Master Artisan, Master Pistoleer - Ahazi

Master Rifleman, Master Creature Handler - Tempest
