When having a weaponsmith make your weapon, can you specify an emphasis, such ashigh attackspeed, or more hitpower? Or is it just totally random?

Its not really random, all weaponsmiths should have a rough figure they can give you on speed and max dmg. As for getting it sliced to meet higher max dmg, thats random. A max dmg figure after a good dmg slice can be calculated, you just have to be lucky to get it
The only thing you can really ask the weaponsmith to do it either experiment more on the HAM to use less or to make the Damage/Speed better...99% of the time WS's will experiment on Damage/Speed first up and if they have points left over, they will experiment on Range/HAM

Damage and speed are experimented in the same line, so you wouldn't be able to request something like "I don't care about speed, I just want as much damage as possible."
