I mean this has to be in some kind of order , like there must be some sort of primary key here ,

When you open your schematic list (ctrlD) and watch it in list form you can count the schematics till you get to the one you want - this is an aproxemation only (i think you get the exact number when you discount those schematics you cant make in your crafting tool)
Then open the crafting tool and type /sel xx (number you counted) and see where that leaves you.

it changes because your next to a crafting station, i.e to build a component you need (depending on complexity)

a generic crafting tool

a specialized crafting tool

a public station

a private station

so that can affect which schematics you can see, forget counting, i open up my craftin tool and type /sel 15 and it opens up the schematic for #15 i aim high for the new schematics and aim low for the old ones, trial and error until i find them, thats what i did when i was grinding, compared to scrolling down

not to mention it will also jump when you learn a skill with more skematics..thus changing the number once again

also keep in mind when your counting out schematic numbers the first one on the list is always "zero" not "one". so start from zero and count. if your not neer a crafting station ignore any schems that require a crafting station on there description and you should find the number easy enough.

Another way...

Have your CTRL D menu open, but also start up a crafting tool. Type /selectD ### where # is your guess for the schematic you want. If you end up with a schematic past the one you want in your datapad try a lower number. If you end up with a schematic before the one you want in your datapad try a higher number.

Keep in mind the final number you end up with will only be correct for your present skill level, your present crafting tool, and your present crafting station if you are near one.
