I tried to manufacture an item, but I have no idea where it goes. And if someone buys it, do I get money?

I take it you mean "How do I use a factory". First you have to make a factory schematic. To do this, you have to be next to a crafting station. Then craft and experiment on the item as usual. When you finish experimenting, there will be an option to make a schematic. Click that button, and a schematic will appear in your datapad.

Go to the factory and select Add/Remove Schematic (or something like that, don't remember exactly). A list of all the factory schematics in your datapad will appear. Select the one you want to use, and it will be placed "into" the factory.

Next, open the Input Hopper. Put all the ingredients your schematic requires into the Input Hopper. Then select Start Factory. Depending on what you are making, and how much, it could take a while for the factory to finish.

Once it's done, your item will appear in a crate in the Output Hopper. Take the crate out and place it into your inventory. To retrieve something from the crate, click on it and select Remove Item from Crate from the radial menu. Now you can trade it to someone else, put it on the bazaar or onto one of your vendors if you have the appropriate skills.

Note that complex items usually require subcomponents that will in themselves have to be run in a factory first. For example, a blaster pistol requires a barrel and a power-handler. In order to do a factory run of pistols, all the barrels and power handlers need to have the same serial number, which means they all have to be run in a factory first.

Hope this helps.
