yeah get a BER 10 medium, not the large. large cost a lot.
Are you not in a guild? You should get in a guild so they can help you figure these things out in game.
In the FAQ"s above there is some place a link to the resources you want. it's gonna take you a while to gather all of them in a good quality.

How does the whole energy thing work? is it better to use plants or manually put in the energy?

Hey all
i just respeced to Master Weaponsmith and i have about 1 mil credits to start me off and get me on my feet. are there any tips you guys could give me? like what kind of resources to look for, harvestors and all that...any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you all!

my advice, and this is something I always do...
Find another master on your server and ask if you can buy a "starter" kit from him or her for your 1 million 
Make sure its a good and fair WS who will sell you decent stuff, get 10k of evert resource needed for the popular guns from him or her, factory out some parts and start selling!
You will want to set up a vendor prolly so you can make money to save up for some WS exp tapes.

Read all the stickies in the top of this forum, that should give you some good advice

thank you both, what sort of harvestors would i need to go buy? and any idea where i could start looking to place them?

Minerals, get some BER 10s since your short on cash, much cheaper than 13s. Use a survey tool to see if there are any good spawns.

how many BER 10s can i put down? and do i spread them out across the galaxy?
also there are so many different kinds of minerals, how do i know where to get certain kinds?
