Thread: Newbie question re: factories

So, I was checking out SWGCraft.com, looking at what materials I should be stocking up on while going through the grind, and I started wondering about factories and how they work.

I know that factories require that you feed in a schematic, in order to produce a certain number of identical items. What I'm curious about, however, is the resources you must feed into the factories.

Let's say I decide to build myself a powerhandler and make a schematic from it. I get the absolute tip-top materials, and make a fantastic schematic that has extremely high values. I then feed the schematic into the factory for production. At this point, am I then required to feed in identical quality resources, or can I feed in any old resources, as long as they're the right type, and expect the factory to produce identical versions of what was in my schematic?

To explain this a bit better (if I'm not being clear), I get a powerhandler made with Siskref Steel that has OQ 800 and Conductivity of 923, some copper that's similarly high level, and a few other resources. I make a schematic, stick it in the factory, and then decide that I'm not going to waste my good stuff, so I put in Codoan copper with conductivity of 223 and overall quality of 12 and skip the steel (since the thing requires metal and copper, if memory serves). Will I still produce handlers with the same quality as the schematic, or must I feed in identical resources?

Thanks in advance!

You do need to feed in the exact same type of resources, so make sure you have enough on hand before you start!

I made the same error the first time - I made a great schematic, only to find that I didn't have enough of the resources to make the quantity I desired, and since I was using resources that I had saved from early in the game, there were none to be found. So, I ended up with a run of around 30 instead of 100!

Good luck to you, Solo. Cheers,

This works on more advanced weapons that need multiple blaster power handlers. need the exact same handlers to make them. for example, the heavy particle cannon uses 5 blaster power handlers. if you want to make 25 cannons and you want them in a factory crate, you need 125 blaster power handlers that are identicle. dont let this example scare you though, when you get a order of 25 particle cannons you will get a large sum of money as compensation

Thanks folks. I understand the reason why you need identical components (for use in guns requiring them), but I wasn't sure about the identical resources for those components. This clears up my confusion.

Just to be clear, though.

Let's say I've got Fefa, a type of Plubum Iron, with a Conduct. of 53 and an OQ of 987. I make my schematic, dump it into my factory, and then realize I'm out of Fefa.

Can I then substitute Afef, a type of Plubum Iron with conductivity of 79 and OQ of 924? Or do I need more Fefa?

You would need more Fefa.

On the factory, after you input the schematic, you get an option of "List ingredients needed for station" telling you the exact names and numbers of resources you need to produce 1 item from that schematic. Multiply that by the number you want to make and wa-la you have the resources needed.

Gotcha. thanks for the clarification. Makes sense. otherwise you'd have the folks with factories having a HUGE advantage over the non-factory types.
