Thread: Advice on Tangle Pistols
I read the Looted Weapon Enhancements thread about the High Velocity Feed Mechanisms and am considering camping some Nym spawns for a bit to get one for a Tangle Pistol.
I've never used a Tangle Pistol, so I have a few questions if someone could give me some advice.
1) Are Tangle Pistols really that good? I know stats aren't legendary on them...but obviously the Stun damage is what sells. With Mitigation coming, what is an average min damage on a Tangle Pistol?
2) Assuming the High Velocity Feed Mechanism I loot off a Nym NPC is +20 max damage like the stickied thread refers lists as the (average?) stat on them, is that really worth bothering with...or should I just buy severalof them andslice/powerup to get decent stats?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.
My non-master/pistol user view:
Currently, Tangle pistols have too short a range to be really useful. The combat changes may alter this, but who knows, really. That said, it can't hurt to have a few feeder mechanisms. But, I'd hang on to 'em until the weapon changes show up. I doubt you'll sell many Tangles before then.
In a weapon with max damage as low as a Tangle, the +20 is actually more of an improvement, percentage wise. My suggestion is keep making enhanced ones until you get a good damage slice. Speed slices will always suck on these, since the damage is so low. Only a BH/Pistoleer can hit one shot per second, so the market is small, but the results are very nice. I tear through people's armor at one Last Ditch per second with my 184 max Tangle pistol. powered up it hits 244, and with the Last Ditch multiplier, I hit players for 200-400, ignoring their armor. (Up to 90% on Bloodfin) Get as many HVFMs as you can. They are worth it.

Stun damage does NOT have a delay effect or do anything special at all. The only things that cause delay are special moves that have it as an effect.
what Jennai said.
Stun damage on a weapon relates to armor protections... ie, stun is the only damage that'll make a bit of difference against some guy in composite armor.

things ive used it on ....greater shampauts, nargs, rouge fambaa.
Drawback: Probably not good for realhigher lvlcreatures or more than 1 high lvl creature. Not big on damage either.
Last Ditch does stun. Witha Tangle its kind of ironic...and effective. I beat an armored, buffed Master Pistoleer today-with no armor, no buffs, and just my Tangle.

How did you get this max dmg so high? I use the best codoan copper, and some sweet copper for the rest of the gun, along with a pretty decent Feed mech. I calculate that even with the +20 HVFM in the feed mech that it would max out at around 130 . Even with 35% dmg slice that takes it to 170, still 14 short of yours.
My quadranium and axidite are server's best, (and the resource gate dictates that there can't be *that* much of a difference), so care to share your secret? I got BH's queuing up for these things since most high level marks have stun weakness...
