Hey I'm currently a Trandoshan Doctor thinking about taking up weaponsmith. The thing is would +10 weapon assembly from the Rodian or Mon Calamari race bonuses worth it? I have quite alota things already on my current character, but if it makes a great deal in crafting good weapons I guess I could part with him. Any Suggestions?

If you like your toon then dont change.

Any race makes a good smith as long as they can gather the best resoueces available to compete with the masters. Just know that unless you happen to find an established smith willing to part with their entire resource invintory, it will take you many months of gathering to be able to compete with the existing smiths on your server.

Later in your career if you are bored, then buy the assembly tapes if it makes you happy, or travel to a research city for your critical combines. Doesn't matter really.

the weapon kit bandolier gives you +5 so just look for another +5 and you wont need to be a fish or rodian

IF and WHEN the current SEA system is FIXED, Repair and Assembly tapes will become fairly hot property, as you wont run the risk of losing a second or third skill tape when trying to attatch itto an already taped piece of clothing/armor.

How does a research city benefit a weaponsmith?

I know... I know... a noob question. Just bear with me.

When you experiment a dice rolls behind the scenes, we'll use a D20 for example sake. SUpposidly it works as follows.

Roll of 1= Crit Fail
Roll of 2-4=failure
Roll of 5-8=Moderate Success
Roll of 9-12=Success
Roll of 13-16= Good Success
Roll of 17-19= Great success
Roll of 20=Amazing success

In a reasearch center you get a 15% chance of getting a higher chance at experimentation, so if your dice roll was 19, in a research center chances are verygood it will always be an Amazing success, and instead of a crit failure most of the time you'll get failure instead of crit failure.

The same thing happens in a manufacturing center, but instead of aiding to experimentation, it aids in assembly.
