Greetings,

I haven't been fond of the crafting professions I have chossen because I had always needed Master Artisan and I couldn't.

So Do you require Master Artisan to make serveral compodents for weapons or not?

Is it a really hard grind? Is it harder than Droid Engineer?

Is it a good source of income?

What is the best item to grind with?

Should I start preparing gather what time of Resources?

Do you recommend getting a Vendor or selling them off hand?

So Do you require Master Artisan to make serveral compodents for weapons or not?

Very few weapons require master artisan components. Personally, when I need to make those few weapons, I outsource those components to someone willing to make them for me (because the quality of them is irrelevant).

Is it a really hard grind? Is it harder than Droid Engineer?

If you gather up the materials to do heavy warhead mechanisms, weaponsmith is probably one of the easier grinds out there. If you go the rifle barrel route, it can be quite brutal.

Is it a good source of income?

This depends on you. The weapons market is very competitive, as are the markets for most crafted items. You need patience, quality weaponry, a willingness to explain the profession to people, etc. to be successful. Some people have been a weaponsmith for a long time and don't make much money at it. Others make millions in a short time. It's all about how much effort you put into it, how well youmarket your wares, but above all, how well you market YOURSELF.

What is the best item to grind with?

Heavy warhead mechanisms if you can get the materials you need. If not, you'll have to find an alternative.

Should I start preparing gather what time of Resources?

There are roughly 60 different named resources required to make everything in the weaponsmith tree. Plan on about 6 months of tracking resource spawns to obtain all of the things you need in high quality.

Do you recommend getting a Vendor or selling them off hand?

Vendor sales are the only way to go. With over 40 weapons that people want, there's simply no way you can hope to be a "traveling salesman" type of smith and be successful.

Oh man, you know you are a vetran if you CAN remember travelling around with an inventory full of scout blasters and DLT20 Rifles.. I actually had on me the resources needed to craft many weapons on the spot at a public terminal.

Ahh, Memories...

So did I, once upon a time. And that worked well when the servers were young. Now, though, I think you'd have a hard time of it. Just my opinion. =)

First off for a much more comprehensive resource of info read the sticky at the top of the board.

Yes you will need Master Artisan to make a few components, but honestly the popular weapons can be made with just WS components. I personally think it is the toughest grind as you will have no high xp yield item until you get firearms 4. The most efficient way to get it is blaster/projectile rifle barrels they net about 120 xp, efficient meaning resources to experience. At Firearms four you can make heavy weapons for about 500xp, but the resource cost is considerable.

Itis a great source of income, veteran smiths say they make over 100k a day,I mastered about a month ago and make 15-30k a day without any advertising. All of my weapons are sold offa vendor, except special or made to order items. To grind gather as much metal as you can find, preferably steel, you'll need well over 150k before the grind is over.

Hope this helps, like I said the sticky will have tons of info.

First of all, you are comparing servers. Never a good idea, as your guns might have a far higher average price on your server compared to his.

Secondly where do you get off? We don't care if you make 100k a day or 1k a day. If he is happywith 15k a day, then good for him. He doesn't advertise/spam, and if he did he could possibly make more money, but I reckon from reading his informative post (which guess what, in case you weren't getting it already, yours almost completelyisn't), he is one of the more considerate smiths who are in it for more than just the money. There are days when Idon't even hit what he makes in a day, but I treat the profession the same way (there are days where I make over a mil, so it evens out over time I reckon)

Stop bragging, no-one likes it. And yes you can get more money doing missions, yes you can make more money in short periods from "on-demand" professions (Docs and Smugglers) but sometimes you get orders for guns that will make more money in 5 minutes than you will ever get from missions.

Crafting professions like WS are a totally different model to combat proffs. You have a totally different form of investment first the grind to get you to master, and it is an on-going investment afterwards trying to get and keep the best resources you can, acquiring rare loot schemes and components and building and retaining your customer-base. How each of us do this is our own business and it is not your place to criticise someone else's efforts.

Kaf

Thanks Kaf, I appreciate the defense. Honestly I don't really care about the money too much I jsut think its fun to make the guns. As for the original poster I'm sure if you put some effort into it you can make a ton of money. As for me I am only interested in making the best I can so I am only selling non-vibro melee at the moment as that is all I have the best resources for. Once you get a good menu of stuff going your customer base will grow I am sure. The 15-30k i mentioned is what I do daily off the bazaar. For me at least Vendor and special order sales are not steady, yet. Some days I do 100k sometimes I'll go days with nothing. Put good medium level, brawler and marksman weapons on the bazaar for 6k and they sell quick. Good luck.
