Do not know if this has been discussed before, but I now one issue that seems to be of concern for many of us crafters these days are the looted weapons that makes our weapons seem a bit low end .

But what if resources had the poteniell of spawn as excetionell as well. Lets say that on a normal spawn of a resource there would be a chanse that a tiny area of on the planet somewhere had much higher stats then the others. Of course it should only be spawned a limited area for a much shorter period of time. also perhaps cap the concentration to 20-25 % . But this open up some more options for us, will also make the surveying a bit more intresting.

Perhaps you guys would have more suggestions for making the crafting and resource buissnismore intresting?

That is already happened a few times from what I have noticed. i started weaponsmith last october and on my server there hasn't been any good plumbum and i mean Oq wise either i know the Co has a really low cap, but the Oq on our Plumbum was barely scratching the top of 300. Then a few weeks back we saw a good 810 oq plumbum on dathomir only, then this week there are 2 plumbums in shift one that seems to be on most planets, which has an Oq of i think 880 mabey not sure dont have hard numbers infront of me but also on talus there is another plumbum that is 987 oq(guess what i am pulling up). I have nmoticed trends like this seems as though they sort of reward surveyors who go out of their way to find good resources. My survey routine is everyday i hit naboo>Lok>Tat>Corellia>Talus then back to naboo for a quick hop to rori, then everyother day i send a survey droid to endor,dantooine,dathomir and yavin. I know there is a pattern to shift days in the week but since the DWB down time that pattern has been off. Pretty much nothing shifts in game w/o me knowing about it. well a bit off topic but point in case checking those adventure planets has its rewards thanks for your time 0_o

Or what about small amounts of resources as crafter-quest rewards... possibly even resources that broke the stat caps?

What weaponsmith worth his/her saltwouldn't do a quest with a reward of500 units of Plumbum Iron that had 800CD 800OQ???

Of course, you'd have to make it so that you could only run the quest once... and limit it to, say, novice weaponsmiths & master artisans by requiring the quest-taker to make certain items and hand them over to characters in the quest.

Thx for feed back, but you missed my point I think. I am talking about truely excetionell resources. Imagine that tattoine have a shift of normal mythra copparbut on a few remote locations on the planet it has 30 % higher stats . with the potentiell of breaking through the cap.

I am well aware of the that different plantes can have different stats on the resource, but then it also have different name, so look at following example.

Gavovecic,Mythra coppar
CR=592, CD=892, DR=507, HR=540, MA=882, OQ=558

Exceptionell Gavovecic,Mythra coppar

CR=770, CD=1000, DR=659, HR=702, MA=1000, OQ=725

Note that even if a specifc resource is exceptionell it does not meen it is better then some older resources. It just have far better stats then the current in shift.

But also these resources should as stated above be hard/imossible to get large amounts of , so perhaps they only will be in shift for 1 or 2 days on a spot that perhaps not is accesible with large harvesters. with a low % in concentration.

Heh, it's not that I missed the point - it's just that I don't agree with it

I like the idea or exceptional resources in principle... but not sure that this should be something you harvest. How would you limit it to only personal harvs?

Even if you put it in a small area (and this would require each resource to be hand-placed, something I doubt the live team would be particularly happy about), someone would manage to get three BER4 personal harvs down straight away... and it would only ever be one person, as who in their right mind wouldn't get as many harvs down on this spawn as possible?

Then, of course, they'd also sit there and run a sampling macro for the full two days of the spawn - by the time the metal de-spawned they'd still have 10k of the stuff, and they'd probably be the only WS on the server to have it. Perhaps some others might have been able to hand-sample, but the location of the spawn wouldn't exactly be shouted out on the forums!

Which would suck... no point implementing a change like this if ultimately only a very few WSs get to benefit from it. Again, I like the 'exceptional resources' idea, but it would have to be something all WSs were able to get, and amounts would have to be very limited.

hehe, "think you missed the point remark" was pointed to the post above yours... am a slow typer . Anyway I think you have a point about that only a few WS's would benefit from it , and I do agree that it could be quest based somehow. But I still do feel that the harvesting option should be there in some way.

Note that the excetionell resorce should not have to be there for every resource in every time. It would be more like it has a chanse of spawning, so really very few would come in contact with it, would be more a struck of luck. Much like not allriflemen will never find a Excetionell/legendary T21. perhaps it should only be possible to hand sample this type of resource.

With this option + a low % spawned I doubt any could gather more then 2k before it despawn from a 15-20 % spot

Also the problem with quest based items as always is how shall we be able to do them ? I can kill a nuna with my 0 combat skills.

The 2k amount sounds like a sensible sort of limit...

As for what sort of quests, I was thinking that these could form part of the upcoming non-combat quests that have been promised from time to time. Instead of being based on feats of combat, perhaps they would be based on feats of crafting!

An example of a beginner's crafting quest, right off the top of my head (i.e. no guarantee of quality!) An NPC is wanting to become a crafter, but needs a really good crafting tool. Make one for him with a quality of +14.00 or higher.

Or more in line with the idea about resources - and of a much higher level -a quest in which Bobba Fett needs you to make him a particular weapon... Heprovides you with a specific limited use schematic and a special survey tool which will send you to a spawn of an Exceptional resource - perhaps this would be on an adventure planet, you'd need to hire other players to protect you, and perhaps you would need to buy subcomponents from a BE or a DE as well (promoting inter-profession interaction...!). You'd go to the waypointand use the survey tool, which would spawn the resource for a limited time - say about 30 minutes (short enough so that you'd be able to realistically persuade some combat characters to assist you, and so that you'd only be able to sample, say, 400 units of the resource). You'd only be able to use the quest survey tool for sampling, the resource wouldn't be detected by the standard mineral survey tool or harvesters.

You survey for as long as you like, and can then make, say4 of the weapons Bobbaneeds, which would take all (or nearly all) of the Exceptional resource- to finish the quest, return to Bobba and hand him one of the weapons. In return, he gives you an extra 2k of the Exceptional resource and leaves you with the other weapons which you can, of course,sell for ludicrous amounts of cash, or trade for combat players' loot drops or things like that.

Hmmm got a bit carried away by that quest idea... taken more time that I can reasonably afford at work!!!
