Thread: Personal Crafting Tools, does the quality matter?

Hello,

I have some weapons tool kits with a rating of 15.00. Does the quality of these personal tools have an impact on the crafting of weapons when your standing next to the larger crafting stations you put in your home? How do they factor in?

Thanks,

Hello,

The higher the tool effectiveness (TE) the less chance of critical failure upon initial assembly of the item.

TE of 13+ for personal crafting tools is what I shoot for (I can make TE 14.97 tools with CD 999 copper). Your TE 15 tools is actually the maximum possible. Personal crafting stations have max of TE 45. IMHO, 40+ should be good enough.

Good luck,

-D

According to Dave White at the Fan Fest, the crafting tool and station ratings do affect the outcome...by an extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly small amount. Don't knock yourself out for such a negligible impact.

That's as may be, but you'll certainly notice the difference between a -15.00 and a +15.00 crafting tool or a -45.00 and +45.00 station. Even the difference between a public station (which I assume is +0.00) and a private one at around +30 I've found very noticeable in the last couple of weeks.

Basically, for crafting tools it's very easy to find/make them with a rating of +12.00 or higher, so there's no reason to bother with anything lower.

Sure, all things considered, you still want to the best tools/stations you can readily get your hands on. Thus, my restated point is: don't knock yourself out looking for or paying for "best-quality" tools when using slightly worse ones won't make a real difference.

Greenmarine, who was involved in the chef revamp, did confirm that Pyollian Cake and Bespin Port are actually having the intended (small but measurable) effect, so I'd certainly want to avail myself of those options, as well as using a research facility, as the need arises. Every little bit helps.
