thanks everyone for the advice so far, this is awesome.

i totally forgot to think about the upcomming combat rebalance. dang. has there been any concrete facts so far in regards toHAM changes and speed changes and things of that nature?

ive been holding onto these tissues for over two weeks now and im really starting to get antsy, but do you think it would be better to wait until after this whole combat rebalance occurs?

i would hate to use these tissues on a gun to trick out the damage, if, as it turns out, it would be totally obsolete when the rebalance hits.

There is no real data on anything in the combat rebalance, except the executioner's hack and DE-10 pistols which were supposedly created to be in line with the combat rebalance so they won't have to be changed later. Damage on everything else will probably be reduced, since the hack is harder to get than the scythe and has worse stats.

They said they're changing the speed formula, so your +100 carbine may not be enough to hit the speed cap.

Laser is much better for PVE because it has medium armor piercing (elite is medium) and I'm pretty sure mitigation is PVP only. Elite and DXR6 are about the same for PVP, but the elite requires less tissues.

Crafted adv stocks are +40 to min/max damage and increase speed by 0.2 - 0.5. Themepark stocks are something like 20 min 25 max damage but reduce speed by 0.5 and have no HAM costs.

The deal with the combat patch keep in mind that these are from what I understand prelimary to the point that they are about a sure thing.

Ham use special attacks will no longer come from the regular ham bars. In other words doing attacks will not decrease you HAM a new set of pools will be in play. A specials ham pool. This is good and bad. One you will not kill yourself with specials. Kind of harsh in that you cannot buff and increase them though. So you will have a set amount of non alterable bars that can be depleted. I am guessing that they will use up just like the regular ham bars and take into the action costs of weapons.

Defensive moves. From this one can expect special defensive moves to counteract certain attacks. One of these moves is a forced stand up that will allow a knocked down player to stand right back up at a penalty. I have not heard anything about how this will be done, but odds are that no applied state in the game will not be overcomeable.

Attack speeds will be totally revamped increadibly. In other words no rifles doing pistol speeds. So in all liklihood every profession is going to lose half or more of its speed bonuses. The speed one has on the weapon will be pretty close to the actual speed. Highly speculative sliceing may not be as effective as it was in the past. Though with the smuggler patch delayed this might not be implemented in the combat rewrite, and may come later. Also the sliced weapons decay might be increased. Its obviously not apparant now, but ask a smuggler to read his weapon sliceing block to you.

Buffs will be increadibly reduced. All the buffs so there will be no loopholes. Spice Food, and healer buffs will be drastically cut.

Armor reduction. The effectiveness of composite armor especially will be cut, but psgs might be made more flexible.

Severe range penalties and reworks. Remember the ideal range modifier on your weapons it will be for real now. Expect severe penalties for point blanking rifles. Not just more missed shots. The example given was that riflemen will need to have other players tag targets into their ideal range. Riflemen will act more like snipers then ever before. Pistol fighters will need to stay close and carbineers will need to be at mid range to get the best effect. So specialized ranged classes will need to fill a specialized roll.

Pool attacks will be largley lost. In other words eyeshot is a little more likely to do mind damage but is also more likely to miss. Torso shot is more likely to hit but less likely to effect a specific pool. So in other words you cannot work a single pool. With any degree of prowess.

Mitigations will also be less powerful on the general but may be more effective on amplifying defensive moves.

Multipliers will be less substantial. Instead of five times a hit. A player might expect two times or three at most. This is supposed to keep pistols from doing heavy weapons kind of damage.

All in all if these things are born out the combat rebalance is actually quite balanced. You will simply be more required to participate strategize and multitask. You will need to use multiple weapons to get the greatest effect, and with any advancement there will be a detractor. With buffs cut armor and weapon encumberances will matter. You will also be limited in the spamming you can do. Battles will take longer giveing you a wide range of time in which to apply your attacks. Weapons will have value in both special and non specialized attacks

As to the last question have them made now. There is no word on whether some weapons might get overhauled one way or the other. Though in all liklihood most weapons will lose a notch. So makeing them now is the right choice. If the stat cap is put in place on some weapons then the worst that can happen is you get put back to the best. I highly doubt any weapons will become stronger because of the patch. SOE has never taken a prenerf weapon out of the hands of a player. They might pull you back to a stat cap or rephraseing of a weapon, but have never removed one.

hello folks!

im a bounty hunter/carbineer with +100 carbine speed mods. im thinking of getting a weaponsmith to craft an elite carbine with me using some krayt tissues ive looted.

i decided on an elite carbine because:

1) i think they look cool

2) it seems they have decent damage, armor piercing, and a short damage range (for mitigation reasons)

the tissues i have are +87 -0.5 or something.

because i have my carbine speed maxed, im totally not worried about the weapon speed at all. the +100, should (in theory) enable me to fire any carbine at once per second, and any carbine special at once per second as well.

my question is:

1) should i ask the weaponsmith to deck out the gun in barrels, stocks, scopes whatever to improve damage? im not worried about HAM cost (im always buffed) or speed (for the reasons i mentioned before), and i really like damage and accuracy. do "normal stocks" improve damage more than the theme park awarded stocks?

2) do you think my choice of carbines is a good idea? do you think these tissues might be better suited in a laser carbine?

whats your opinion?

oh, and thanks in advance!

You are right, carbine speed won't matter.

Do you want it for PvP or PvE ?

ILaser is better for PvE because of the high max dmg but a Krayt Elite should have approx. 209-430 at 4.0 or so (after good dmg slice) which will rock - especially with a min/max powerup. Laser would be 110-532 at 3.5 or so; good for PvE but not so good for PvP due to mitigation.

Bear in mind you might get that speed slice you really don't want

There is a good post on the Carbineer forums about making a great PvP carbine. Personally I'd make a nice Krayt Elite, decked out with scope+stock, hope for a good slice and use it very occasionally for PvP !

Mmm, crippleshot with one of those at cap .. about 2200dps or closer to 2700 if they don't have ranged mitigation... (Laser would be 1700dps against RM3 or 2800 against no RM)

Okay keep in mind with the upcomeing combat patch that nobody will be max speeded even with the tapes. In other words all professions are going to have their speed mods capped relatively. Slow guns will remain slow. Also with the stand up command being implemented with that patch. The BH knockdown nerf will most likely vanish. So you actually will want two guns. One for speed to smack down your state attacks dizzy stun knockdown. So I suggest that you actually work with two carbines. One for the speed one for the damage.

Facts you should know buffs are going to get killed, and specials will not poor from the ham. There will be new pools from which to do special attacks. A elite carbine as it is now is a heinous weapon when it comes to ham costs. So you will want that weapon to do damage attacks while you use a dh17 to do stat attacks.

Have the elite fully decked out, because you can use that and not even spray specials and do decent damage. On the dh17 do not deck it out. Its naturally low ham, and damage type armor peirce really has no relevance on knockdowns. So a dh17 carbine might do just under 2 seconds before the slice. You might get it if all goes well down to 1.5 if you use a form fitted stock you might be down near 1 second.

I would suggest if you have six tissues have the smith make both of these weapons. You will be quite balanced no matter how the new combat patch balances out.
