As a new weaponsmith that is working on gathering resources, I would like to hear from other ws on the topic.

How much of a rare resource, like green diamond, as opposed to a general steel with very high stats?

I know there is no such thing as enough, but at what point does it prove to be overkill?

In my opinion, there is no such thing as too much, Have seen on the posts here that one of the servers hasnt seen Ostrine Carbonate Ore for months, so you need to plan on having to possibly go months without seeing it again, If it is a great resource such as the platinite copper we had on scylla a few months ago, it is worth its weight in gold, you now see people that had stocked up on that stuff selling it for 70-100 CPU.

It also depends upon how many weapons you plan on making on a regular basis

If it is common, and average quality, wouldnt waste too much time and energy on it, but if rare or exceptional quality, gather as much as you possibly can, if nothing else can later sell or trade for some resources you need.

Egghead has a good point there about stocking up for a rainy day, but, when you're worried about storage, do you really need 3 stacks of 100K green diamond or chromium aluminum for making scopes on weapons when you rarely use them? If it's a question of making space for a stack of 100K of 500 cond/990 oq steel or some green diamond gemstone, guess which ones gonna win out in the end.

After you're a weaponsmith for a while, you'll learn which resources you can't have too much of. High CD/OQ copper, steel and iron are always something you can use more of. The ingredients for ABPHs are another thing you should hoard massive quantities of.

It's things like Gallinorean or Byrothsis gemstone which, while you many want to watch for new spawns and higher quality, a single brick will last you a long time.

Meh..... if you find you've too much of something, go put it in a factory run of Weapon Upgrade Kits......
