Thread: Master Artisan Reqd. to be a great Weaponsmith?

I'm making a new character to be a Weaponsmith. I plan on Mastering WS & Merchant to be my own self-sufficient arms dealer. Now, I've got several other characters, all combat professions, so the whole crafting scene is new to me.

To be the best Weaponsmith that I can, must I Master the Artisan Tree? I was seeing if I can have some skill points leftover to do just a tad bit of combat to spice things up.

Any tips appreciated!

No, not at all.

There's a couple weapons need Master Artisan components, but you can buy them easily enough.

I'm seriously thinking about dropping MArtisan myself sometime in the near future, so I've more points for combat......

I was MA as well as MWS, but I gave up MA. You need the Engineering line (of course), you will probably need the surveying line, unless you plan on buying all resources, andyou will need business to get to Merchant, but you don't need Dom Arts. You do need some subcompents, such as Power Conditioners/Control Unitsthat can only be made by a MA, but you can buy them, or buy a MA's time to create a schematic for you based on resources you give him. I think ideally you would MA, create some Schems for the subcomponents to keep you occupied then give it up.

Its a pity, because I liked MA, but as vehicles have no variation apart from durability, and the devs introduced the vehicle customisation in such a way it quickly became meaningless then there is little reason to remain MA.

Hmm. Thanks for the input gentlemen. I guess I will forget about the Domestic Arts tree. I kind of like the idea of making the speederbikes and all, but I'll focus on weapons and getting a chance to play with my own toys.

Thanks all.

To be utterly realistic all you really need is the engineering tree right now. You can go to business three place a vendor and drop the skills. You really do not even need merchant either its bonuses are lackluster at best. I have master artisan, and some time ago in some little patch its bonuses that actually helped in weapons assembly vanished.

Here are the facts you need master artisan components for few weapons, and they are really not important weapons at that. Spraysticks tangle pistols, and to top that off the quality of the component dosent even matter. You can make them with complete garbage. Vehicles last forever.

I gotta be honest too the surveying well its bonuses are mild at that. If you pay attention you will know where the hot spots on the map are for resources. If that dosent work you just work grid patterns. It may take another ten minutes but you can get by.

Yeah I finally let bitterness get to me I decided to just drop most of artisan yesterday am working on something that will actuallly make me a better weaponsmith smuggling. You get a combat bonus and you get to slice weapons armor and make spices.

Spraystick control units are optional (and do nothing); the only ranged weapon that requires them is the tangle pistol. Melee uses a lot of control units and some other thing for the lances and stun batons, but if you're only doing ranged you can just master artisan for a day, make a couple schematics, and they'll last for months.
