Thread: Where can I find some nice looted barrels?

I'm getting a flamethrower made, and I want her to be as fast as she can be. I have some -1.02 speed krayt tissues, and some foam fitted stocks. I was also told to use regular (not advanced) blaster rifle barrels. I know these can be made, but I heard you can loot some nice barrels also. Where can I loot these barrels, and how many will I need?

One barrel is all a FT needs.
Where to loot the barrels.......it's purely random. Try faction farming high level NPC's.
The reason they recommended a standard barrel over an advanced:
- You lose about 3 points of Damage
- But, you pick up more speed.
- You are trading damage for speed, basically.

the good thing about looted blaster rifle barrels, is that the base stats are only 5 min, 5 max. i say this, becuase advanced blaster rifle barrels on our server, barring a criticial assembly, are 11 min, 11 max.
now, i bring this up, because in this game, looted items are never the "advanced" version of the component. they are always base, and getting something better than an advanced component a crafter can build is pretty difficult. personally, i've killed 1000's of high level nightsisters (elders, protectors, spellweavers) and only looted ONE set of nice barrels, 15 max, 11 min and -.7 speed.
as an fyi, someone on our server looted "exceptional rifle stocks". they happened to be 28 min, 28 max i believe. that is 12 points less than a weaponsmith can craft, and 2 points max less than a imp themestock.

Ya...advanced brrels suck! You need 4-5 special resources and the only benifit is like the othe rposter said...3-4 damage points, but they are slower. I sure hope this is one thing the CU fixes.....advanced components ought to be much better than basic ones.

Advanced blaster rifles have a higher acuracy. The only stuff where a non-advanced barrel is better is for FT and LLC (and in some cases carbines but most carbineers are also BH so no need for speed).
Looted exceptional/legendary barrels are very rare. Extremly rare, I have only heard about a few on my server, one of them is a legendary advanced blaster rifle which is about 40-50 damage, -1.4 speed and 150+ to ideal range. That barrel is a dream to use for FT (I know cause I made one from the other barrel from the same drop).
I also have some legendary/exceptionals stocks and they are nice, less speed penalty and a lot higher range mod and no HAM cost.
The legendary/exceptional compoents have been drops from Elders and Krayts.
If you can't buy a barrel then forget about it. You might be killing elders and krayts for a year without getting a component (or you can loot it at the next one you kill it is all random)
