My new master weaponsmith alt, Nandos, is on Eclipse, one of the most developed servers as anyone who plays on there knows. I made my alt so I could try out crafting, get a fun getaway from the usual of my ranger, and also to make some cash. However, I am having some trouble- I am down to 80k, and not only do I have no idea what people are buying (having been a master ranger/master rifleman my entire time in the game, I never had to get anything besides a good T-21), but I also have no idea how much to sell stuff for and... well, I dont know anything.
At 80k I really dont have room for mistakes... I have got to get a business going, and I would like to start it off on the right foot. Does anyone have any tips for what weapons to make, what stats to aim for, and how much to sell for (although I guess only an Eclipsian could answer that one)...? So far, I have produced the following weapons...
Adv. Laser Rifle
Base DPS 244
SAC 129
Speed 2.43
Damage 339-846
High Capacity Scatter Pistol
Base DPS 259
SAC 109
Speed 2.2
Damage 369-771
Laser Carbine
Base DPS 206
SAC 110
Speed 2.41
Damage 268-630
I really have no idea how to spend my ten experimentation points and whatnot, and cosidering how limited I am on cash for resources I really need to get it straight. ANyways, if anyone could provide any tips on what I can do to launch a successful WS business on a low budget on Eclipse, please go ahead, no suggestion is unwanted at this point. I would just like to see some retuurn ont he enternal grind

I am not sure about the average stats on your galaxy but I you will definately have problems selling these. I will give you an exepmple of my Adv. Laser Rifle
SAC 82-83
Speed 2.7
Max-Damage ~980
Which I would sell for about 15k
Did you experimant at all or did you only assemle the raw parts? Even with bad resources it must be possible to get better results

Become a loot wh-ore for a few weeks build up your bank account and harvest and sell resources to help with this. Harvest as much of your own resources as possible for WS. Buy up any decent WS resources that u can find on vendor search after u have a nice sized stash of money. Buy as much cheap decent loot components u can find like krayt tissues etc. or just go loot your own. I found a set of 170max tissues for 1400 credits on the bazaar a week ago.
What u want to do to get the sac lower though is make advanced blaster rifle barrels with -9 sac or as low as possible. Make advanced blaster power handlers with -9 sac or as low as possible. Then on final weapon combine experiemtn fully on damage then reduce sac as low as possible. Dont worry about experimenting on speed as its almost pointless. It isnt gonna be a fast money making thing normally though unless u find some uber loot components and have a decent stash of resources u can look thru. Becoming a decent WS will take 3-6 months maybe longer. I have been one for a year and still have to find resources i need occasionally.

I am not sure I ever understood what a loot wh0re is... I mean, at best I have a few hours everyday to play, is that enough time to get a buncha loot? In any case, my main character, Gledako, is a ranger on a server that has not had a good contract since I bought my very first ADK a few weeks ago, which compltely drained my bank.
Butthat said, thanks for the tip. Till now I had been using what I now see were pretty lame blaster power handlers. I may have to buy some odd resources but I suppose I will live :-P

My suggestion, based on what I have been doing with my MWS, also new to the industry, is to focus on the low end weapons and mid range weapons. If your server is like Tarquinnas, then there are a lot of new players, and they need weapons as well. Rather than competing with the top end smiths, go for the market they largely ignore.
I sunk 4.5 million (sold my BARC for 6) into resources mostly, buying the best that was available and really trying to save money by comparison shopping, then started making newbie weapons and mid range ones and selling the newbie weapons on the bazaar in Mos Eisley and of course on my vendors. I got as many vendors up as I could as quickly as I could, ensured I had Advertising 3004, and was thus on the planetary map, made sure they were all labeled "Jhonto's Ranged Weapons", "Jhonto's Melee Weapons" etc so that its obvious they are all in the same place when you look at the planetary map - thus implying more to look at if you are casually shopping. I do a pretty steady business in C12 grenades (at 40k per crate) etc. I am up 2 million in the past few weeks and going strong. I have over 3 million in stock so I will eventually recover my investment.
My experiments with trying to produce top end weapons have had only moderate success at best. I can't compete with the 12pt smiths or the people who can casually sink 1m into tissues etc, so I don't even try - for the moment. Once I have enough to buy the CAs needed to be a 12pt smith, and once I have my FS crafting Experimentation (having to drop MWS to get it mind you which is annoying), I think I will be well on my way to competing at the high end too. In the meantime I make a steady 30k -120k per day easily with one day going to 750k. I am quite pleased, and the newbie market for CL5 - CL22 weapons going for 4k to 7k is steady - and all those people get used to buying from me so they naturally think of returning to my shop when they need their next weapon.
Now that I am FS and have to relevel to finish the FS requirements and padawan trials - and I am returning to crafter when I am done those, I just want the alt - I have started building up as many stockpiled weapons as I can. I have about 600 on my vendors and another couple hundred in crates to resupply with. I know I will run out before I am done but I want people to assume my business will be returning, so I want something on my vendors for as long as possible
I think the lower end market is probably quite exploitable if you are research your market and get the server prices for each weapon (I have a notebook I write them down in).
Good Luck!

You can also consider selling C-12 grenades by the crate. They are the easiest munition to make, sell decently and resource quality is much less important with them. And many WS don't bother making them at all.

I used some of the best resources possible, although I bought the blaster power handlers so I am not sure how well they were made. But I did experiment, I am jst not sure exactly what I should experiment on.

Made a few more.. I am not sure how experimenting works, but I used as much of efficiency as I could and still couldnt get my weapon below 105 SAC, and then damage was max 840. How does ti work exactly... does it make a difference if I run one or a lot of experiments at once?
