Thread: The last bubble

Im not sure if Im perhaps inatentive (fairly possible) or Ive noticed a quirk.

Often Ill have 3pts left and have all but the last bubble to yellow up in say "damage".

Now Ill apply another point, I get a great success and the last bubble is still available. The stats on my item have moved a tiny amount (0.01 of speed and 1 or 2 of damage). This same one point of experimentation applied as my first experiment would yieldm me a 0.1 speed shift and several points of damage. I can spend all 3 points on the last bubble for very little net effect.

Im starting to write stats down pre-last bubble and then make again and use my points eleswhere (efficency or range) where their impact is proportionally larger....

Thoughts ?

I noticed this last night as well. I dont understand it either. It seems like instead of getting the Full 7% for a great success I am now getting 1 or 2 % It only seems to happen when i get the experimentation bar to about 88% or higher. I have no idea why it is happening but can only assume that is has to do with the upcoming patch. Items that I was able to get to 98-99% i can only get to about 92-93% not that its a huge differnce in the weapons quality, its just a waste of pts if i get something to 90%.

Anyone else notice this? Please discuss

maybe you are reaching the allowed experimentation cap that is defined by the resource attributes. lets say the materials allow a maximum experimentation of 65% and you get to 63% by experimentation, the next experimentation point put in that line will only yield a 2% gain, even if you score a great success.

on the other hand, if you are talking about crafting blaster power handlers, then this effect comes from the fact that damage experimentation is split up into to properties that rely on different resource attributes - min damage (50%cd 50%oq) vs. max damage and speed (66%cd 33%oq) - that means that you usually have different maximum experimentation values in a single experimentation line.

these different maximum values are used to calculate the allowed experimentation percentage (not absolutely sure, but i think it is a simple average) - if you get your experimentation percentage above the maximum value of one of the properties, then further experimentation will yield a smaller gain in experimentation percentage and the already property that is already capped will not rise any more.

basically i dream of a game system that does not need to help NPCs by giving them ungodly amounts hitpoints, resistances and damage, where there is no need for special damage reductions in PvP...

Well its nice to know I was correctly observing the last bubble....

I think your cap is quite possibly right, but I also think its a bit like 1/2 a number....the changes get smaller and smaller...so I think in many cases investing 3 points into that last bubble may be folly and you should either re-experiment till it fills first time (as happens sometimes) and spend the remaining two on efficency or whatever...or just work out the max (by playing) and when you get to the last bubble accept that 243 and 245 arent worth 1-3pts of experimentation and put them elsewhere.

Ive notices with scopes I can get them down to hams of 2-4 acrooss the board and use my remaining 4 points on damage for a much bigger net effect as opposed to spending all points to get my scoped HAM to 000.

And as a by the by...what is the deal with these pesky rifle stocks. They seem to be a moderate success magnate...unless you do the 1st bubble on its own...then they seem to exeriment normally !

I think it's that you have reached the maximum attribute value possible for the materials you used in construction. So even if you had another 10 experimentation points to spend you can't improve the value beyond a set value determined by the quality of the material used. If spending the extra point only gets you 1-2 more damage and -0.1 speed, you're probably better off spending it on another attribute you haven't maxed out on.
