Thread: Beyond Master Weaponsmith?

To all Weaponsmiths, I am collecting info on what type of Prestige Class you would like to see after Master Weaponsmiths. For example...

After achieving Master Ranger you have now opened the paths to:

  1. The Outdoorsman (Big Game Hunter)

  2. Antarian Ranger (possesses minor force resistances and abilities)

  3. Combat Ranger (master of guerilla warfare)

Those were just examples of ideas I had for the Ranger profession. Now that you hopefully see where I am going with this idea, I would love to see where you would like theWeaponsmith to go after achieving the title of Master Weaponsmith. Any and all input is welcome, but please try to keep it constructive.

And the skill points will come from where?

-- Xixor (FS Master Doc/Master Pistoleer -- CANCELLED) "I know what you're thinking: Why, oh why, didn't I take the BLUE pill?"
-- Xixasaurus (Padawanasaurus/Privateer) "Green is Good"
-- Xixette (12pt-Master Artisan/12pt-Master DE/12pt-Master WS) "Think Pink!"
-- Xixell (FS Master Pikeman/Master Swordsman/Rebel Pilot) -- "Anybody for some ants?"
-- Xixdoggie Dawg (Master Rifledogg/Master Ranger) "Woof"
-- XixTheFish (12-pt Master Chef)

sounds like a neat idea, i do recall the dev's mentionin somethin about possible branch off clasess, maybe the skill points wont matter, but u can only do one of the branch off classes at a time ya kno. but what would we get beyond master weaponsmith? if they had a branch off of master weaponsmith the new elite WS is goin to run the market with the "new" better weapons than the reg guy. who will want a two handed curved sword when they can make 2h swords with like diseases and shiit on them? sounds like a good idea but i dunno man i worked hard to get my master slot and still workin hard to get noticed

The dev concept was elite-elite professions to stem off the elite professions like elite profession stem off basic professions. The idea for thisis to come with the Space Expansion and there would be a corresponding increase in skill points. The assumed additions will some forms of pilots and vehicle engineers. I doubt we will see a "Weaponsmith II" profession but there may well be a "Starship Weapons Engineer" that builds turbolasers and proton torpedoes. It all depends on how in depth the spaceship construction is. I would love to see fully customizable weapons for ships that is seperate from starship construction. Have a starship engineer who builds ships, for example an Xwing with standard lasers and proton torpedoes. And then have a weaponsmith or new weapon profession build different types of lasers or advanced protons that can be swapped on the Xwing at any time by the owner.

BioEngineered WS

Use tissues made by BE to enhance their weapons. Like said above, making a sword with poison DOT would be amazing.

or vehicle weaponsmith. making guns for the vehicles etc...

heavy ws.....making group type weapons talked about in the SL forum a while ago, like the cannon that the ST's used to try to take down the millenium falcon in ESB

I was hoping that with the space expansion, that weaponsmiths could make the gun portions of ships that a player could drop in and use as desired. Basically, the ship would have weapon slots to eqiup weapons. This would work well to for special armor and other possible enhancements.

I think Starship Engineer should be a seperate profession based off of Engineering in Artisan.

The treebreakdown would be something like this.

Schematics 1-4. Grants the engineer more types of ships they are capable of building, including TIEs and X-Wings.

Construction 1-4. More experimentation points just like in WS, armorsmith, etc.

Weapons 1-4. more types of weapons that can be put on starships.

Armor 1-4. better armor to put on starships.

Master - more experiment points, more schematics.

I can see the appeal of a Starship Engineer profession, but maybe it'd be better to split the engines/weapons/armor among a couple of (new) profs? Seems like building an entire ship would be a lot more complicated than one person could handle - although one architect can build a guildhall, so maybe not.

Or maybe you leave weps/armor in their existing professions, and the new starship profession is more of a manager - builds the engines and hull himself, but has to source the weapons and armor from others. This could encourage players to team up more - player shipyards, etc.

How about some sort of artillery/siege specialty? A weaponsmith elite could build some sort of large, slow-moving, siege weapon that could hit player bases, etc from long range. You'd have to defend them though, as the defenders would be well advised to send out raiding parties and the artillery would be easy to destroy by itself.

The devs would probably need to make it slow-firing though - it'd suck to have your entire base destroyed before you had a chance to do anything about it.
