Master WeaponSmith/Master Artisan/Master Merchant or

Master WeaponSmith/Merchant 3/0/0/4/Master Artisan/Smuggler 0/4/0/0 for slicing my own weapons?

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Well, it's really hard to say as it is all personal preference. First of all, let me congratulate you on one of the best uses of 250 skill points that I've ever seen. WELL DONE!!

So, my next question would be...do u want to be a hardcore crafter or do u want some combat skills. With your first template, you're all crafter. Second template, you have both some unarmed and some pistol skills which will allow some combat from time to time of you wanted to go that route. Also, keep in mind that master smugglers have a bigger slicing bonus that just a slicer.

Personally, if it was me, I'd probably pick the artisan/ws/smuggler/merchant combo. But, that's just my preference. Right now, I have two accounts active, one will eventually be a Master Artisan/Master Weaponsmith/Master Merchant while the other will be a Master Creature Handler/Master Smuggler.

Thanks for the feedback. I have another account with a 2/4/4/4 bh on it so not really concerned with the combat aspect of the prereqs to get slicing, Im thinking of just going the straight crafting route and find a smuggler to slice my stuff. Since i will want the best possible chance to get the best slice i can.

I am a Master Weaponsmith/Master Smuggler, and for a while I had Merchant 3/0/0/0, so it is possible. It just doesn't leave many points for much else.

Personally, I'm a Master Weaponsmith, Master Artisan, Master Merchant, Novice Armorsmith. I partnered up with a smuggler early in his career and kept him stocked with slicing gear, so now I'm his exclusive slicing partner. I have enough carbine skill to deal with most things in the wild (along with a nasty-nasty Damage Sliced laser carbine.)

Being hte mayor of a city I went the

Master Weaponsmith/Master Merchant/Master Politician 4042 (or is it 4041 I dont remember) Artisan. I really miss master artisan but luckily i have some friends who are able to make schematics I need when I need them which isnt very often.

I may jsut drop most of merchant so I can pick up master artisan again since nothing is being done with the class for a while it seems.

I do miss combat but thats why I ahve an alt. I would rahter do combat with an account noone knows so I dont get bugged constantly with tells when on a hunt with friends.

Yes its possible with some complicated math. You will have to drop some master artisan. Thats all their is to it. That means you will not be self reliant when it comes to some weapons. You will then have to get novice marksman novice brawler. Go up one branch in each. Then go novice smuggler. You will want to master smuggler to get the super slice. You will need to drop domestic arts and surveying just to manage advertiseing three, and when you drop artisan somewhere you lose some assembly points. Have no clue why but master artisan helps with master weaponsmith.

Then you will have to deal with bad slices. You will about have to throw away weapons that get bad slices. It might be better to just sell unsliced weapons, and let the public get them sliced.

This was my experience. By far the most popular slices were damage slices. Even 30+% speed slices barely moved. After a while I had a huge stockpile of high quality speed slices, which I ended up discounting below the price of an equivelant unsliced weapon just to get it off the vendor. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the hassle so I stopped carrying sliced weapons, though I did keep Master Smuggler for personal use (and I kinda like the profession).

The thing about going only Slicing IV in smuggler is that your slices will cap at 29%. You'd need to be a Master Smuggler to be able to hit the 30+% slices. Of course, the problem with going Master Smuggler and Master Weaponsmith is that it doesn't leave a lot of skillpoints for much else (though you should still have enough pointsleft togo Merchant 3/0/0/0 so you get planetary advertising).

I think you have to have Marksman and Brawler to get to smuggler in the first place so I don't think that combo is even possible

if you go master WS and master Smuggler (for the nice slices) you have enough SP to get merchant 3,0,0,1 which is enough to get you 3 merchants and planetary advertising.

If you wanted more merchants you could go 1,0,0,3 to get the additional vendors, then drop 1,0,0,3 nd go back to 3,0,0,1 and you get to retain your merchants (make sure you keep up the maintenance on them coz if they disapear you need to get management skills back again to place the aditional ones over 3)

its a bit cheesy cheetohs style but it works and I am sure its not been put down as an exploit ? correct me if i am wrong please

Hmm - I never thought about this combo - it looks neat. Slice your own stuff - self generating the stuff to slice - and then getting nice dosh from the weapons. And of course be able to provide a nice little service to armoursmiths on the side. Got to be the perfect combo. Better than what I've got atm M.WS/M.Artisan/Medic 1-1-1-1/Marksman 4-3-3-3/Merchant 3-0-0-2/Novice Droid(for those customisation kits).

btw I think you need Merchant 3-0-0-2 for 3 vendors (novice = npc, 0-0-0-1=+1 vendor, 0-0-0-2=+2 vendors)

I think you already figured it out. I have an alt thats planning master Smuggler, master WS, Artisan 4 0 3 2 (just enuff surveying and one vendor), Marksman 0 4 0 1 (I cant give up /aim) and pistoleer 0 0 0 4. (to go with the requisite brawler).

I dont necessarily want to have planetary advertising, then I will feel like a slave to the shop. Just plop a house and vendor or tent and vendor down somewhere near a few other vendors and hope for some meager business.
