Scopes and stocks are optional components when crafting weapons.

Scopes ad to the chance of wounding and ideal range bonus

Stocks add to the min and max damage

Some people like them, some people don;t since they also add HAM penalties and speed penalties to the weapons.

I tend to charge more for weapons with them since they cost extra resources to make. If you loot components like that, the lower end WS may like them, but the higher end WS can make better components than what you can loot.

With the exception of the form-fitted stocks from the Imperial themepark.

The elite doctor type professions love them since they can buff there stats and not worry about the ham costs.

Or at least I love them

I have noticed with all the fine buffs and great new foods that are out now, my clients are not nearly as concerned with HAM as they used to be. Now they want more of my points applied to range, not HAM, when creating new weapons. I offer both, and my higher ranged weapons are more popular as of late.

Stocks offer more in min/max damge, but there is usually some HAM and speed penalty. How much is determined by the weaponsmith as he/she applies experimental points where they wish. Scopes increase range nicely, and most weaposnmiths take the HAM costs down as close to zero before applying range points. Of course, there is a lot of room for customization.

Regular scopes can be experimented down to +0 extra HAM cost, and +10 to hit bonus. However, even though it says +0 HAM cost, in reality it actually adds +1/+1/+1 if I remember correctly.Even so, it's a small price to pay for the extra to hit bonus.

if you got nice materials some luck and in town that have bonus to experiment then you can get +13 1ham scopes.

Many ppl fight buffed these days and dont care much about ham anyway.

Many masters (fighters)dont care much about loos of 0.3 to 0.8 sec is they can get something good instead of that speed loss.
