Thread: Adv Stock Oddities

Ok, so i finally managed a good spawn of corellian deciduous wood with 600 SR on sunrunner so I decided to start making some nice stocks. My usual experimentation route is 3-3-3-1 as i'm a 10 point smith. So on most weapons I've tried different routes and I usually end up with the same stats no matter what route i take. However, since the damage % from assembly starts relatively low on advanced stocks, I can't experiment to max the damage on them. So, I guess this is where the following weirdness comes from:

Experimenting in different paths for damage on Adv Stocks has given me varied results. Here's some of the Stock schemes i've made and the path I took to get them:

#1
Path: 3-3-3-1
Stats: 32-33 damage, 0.375 speed, 9 wound

#2
Path: 6-3-1
Stats: 40-39 damage, 0.395 speed, 9 wound

#3
Path: 6-4
Stats: 40-38 damage, 0.375 speed, 9 wound

#4
Path: 7-3
Stats: 40-40 damage, 0.483 speed, 7 wound

Experimenting using a path starting with anything 8 and above results in utter failure, even though my risk bar is still at 0% ... From the data above, i'd say #1 and #4 are an outlier and that worries me since my usual path is #1.

My questions:

1.) Does my experimentation differ from many of yours for most weapons? I don't see that big a difference in my weapons from most other WS, and I can usually max out the damage tree with 10 points on most weapons.

2.) Do you think that having the assembly % start so low and not being able to completely fill the damage tree with 10 points is what's causing this weirdness?

3.) What kind of luck do you 12 point smiths have with stocks? I assume everything is groovy when you have the extra 2 points to finish maxing out the damage tree and most schemes you make will be uniformly similar regardless of the path you take.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I've searched everywhere I can and have read the FAQs like 4-5 times each and saw nothing of this mentioned.

yeah stock assembly is rather different than other components , theres lots ov good posts that explain this , best to do a search on these forums and read thru them, but my way for stocks is 4 points then 1 point a go after that

6-2-2 is the best that I've found. I get 40/40 .357 on mine using this.

6 points first seems to give a lot of "good" successes but it's worth persevering until you get that amazing. My current stocks are 40/40 dam, 0.296 speed, 26/26/25 ham cost, but I'm 12 pt so that's not exactly relevant in this case.

Yeah, so I wanted to show off

My Adv Stocks I make for PvP weapons are a little odd. I find often times people pay no attention to speed, when looking for a hard hitting accurate weapon. There for I throw like 6 points into damage/speed and come out with a 40/40 .725 stock, but have acheived +20 ideal. So my weapon's come out a few tenths slower, but a bit more accurate.
