im just starting up my pre-slice ws business - just wondering if im providing good weapons all sliced at an unbeatable price - is there any need to stock unsliced weapons? do customers want the choice of unsliced amongst the all these sliced weapons?

sorry if this is an re-acurring topic or post.

i think you'll actually make more money selling unsliced weapons, especially on krayt stuff as people (and master smugglers like me) always see the potential in a good unsliced weapon(s) and will possibly buy 3 or 4 in the hope of getting that 35% DS.. also you dont end up with a load of weapons that are difficult to sell due to speed slices...

Id say maybe slice 25% of your stock if your a ms, and leave 75% unsliced. After the smuggler revamp, where you can choose the slice type so im told, well it may be a different matter then.

You'll make far more credits per weapon selling sliced than you will selling unsliced becausemost players will pay a premium for the convenience and certainty that comes with buying a weapon that's already sliced. It's also more work to stock and restock a sliced vendor and you'll probably end up with a small percentage of weapons that won't sell due to unfavorable slices or that will have to be priced below unsliced price but you'll still come out way ahead. It's still a good idea to have unsliced weapons available for those players who like to get their own slicing done.

All of this will change in 2-3 months with the smuggler revamp as the rarity of good slices will be replaced with a system that lets the smuggler choose the type of slice. Once that happens it will probably only make sense to keep a few each of the most popular models sliced for convenience as there will no longer be a premium on rare good slices.

hurlobacca obviously knows more than me - he's conviced me that you make more money from sliced unenhanced weapons as a master than unsliced.. but on krayt/ackey etc items i would sell unsliced to begin with - to build up a steady flow of cash... if your just starting out, and say you get 5 speed slices in a row (happened to me recently with 5 krayted items) - then youve just lost yourself around 2 million credits... When you are an established master, then you can afford this..

depends if your an optimist or pesamist i suppose! Its a bit like playing a game show & them saying we'll give you 200,000 pounds right now, or you can take a chance and see whats inside tonights mystery box - could be 1,000,000 pounds, could be a rotton banana skin

its an interesting one to debate eh!

edited, because i didnt get what i wanted to get accross first time..

I'm a Master Smuggler to added master Weaponsmith just to sell sliced weapons. I was buying other vendor's stock, slicing and reselling. Even selling for sometimes 1/4 of market value on my server i was still making 6 million or so a week.

I sliced a case of Power Hammers last night. They are 5.4 465max dmg unsliced. Not bad hammers. I have them unsliced by the case for 200k on my vendor. But let's say I sold them individually for 10k unsliced. That would be 250k. Now for the case I sliced, I got 3 hammers over 600 dmg which seems to be the magic threshhold. In fact on 2 of them got 34% and 35% slices so I can sell each of them individually for more than the value of the entire case unsliced. I dump the olower end stuff on bazaar as grind quality and entry level hammers and price the good sliced in the 12k range. Now my 250k case of hammers is worth closer to 750k.

I understand that not everyone is also a Smuggler butI would suggest instead of paying the Smuggler in cash, you offer him vendor credit. Keeps your cashflow liquid. And you can factury run the smuggler tools. many Smugglers would see this as a chance to get into the weapons business without spending any cash. I started doing this for 2k per slice and built my vendor business and that evolved into my weaponsmithing. Which so far i suck at, but am enjoying frankly very much. It's an active hands on trade.
