Thread: Are all weapons as redundant as they seem in the CU?

I was looking over a post which showed all the stats on the new weapons that can be obtained from TC5. One thing about them seemed to disappoint me. That being that so many weapons are now too alike. There are now only Energy and Kinetic Damage. How do these weapons differ from one another now. I realize that some of them have an added ELEMENTAL damage. But again these weapons seem way to similar to one another. I thought one point of this upgrade was to make weapons more diverse. Everything I have seen thus far makes it seem as though weapons are going to be less diverse than they are now.

Can someone please let me know if this actually is truely the case now. Or if it is the opposite of what I have said.

It's main focus is to "balance" the game, having damage types that are different from eachother ( onprimary damage types ) sets the stage for imbalances in weapons, armour and professions.

I don't think the weapon stats are finished yet;

All pistols have 2.0 speed, carbines 2.2 and rifles 2.5

Pretty much all weapons of a class have the same range and special cost too so I don't think those have been looked at yet either.

I sure hope you are correct about that. If you aren't, however, then just a few weapons will be viable for a master in any elite profession.

I honestly doubt that'll make much difference in the long run. Are you going to use a gun with 1 range that does 500-900 or are you going to use one that has 100 range that does 50-90 damage?

I also get the same feeling of redundant weapons. To many weapons seems to have similar damage/capabilities.

But the big question is what will happen when you start experimenting on weapons. It might be that some weapons will be able to get experimentted witha much higher speed than others etc.

Have anyone seen a table with all stats for us number crunchers?

Most of the new weapons do seem redundant because of both the damage types and the way certifications are spread out.

The main problem I see is the way the weapon certifications are so spread out and the rule about basic weapons only using basic components. This is going to result in the elite profession masters using just 1 or 2 specific weapons that are given at master because they will be so far above the others.
In our current system any weapon can be made into something worth using and alot more people have access to them, so we see alot more variation.

We have to remember that this is still in testing so alot can still change.....
