I've been playing a little over a month now, and thought I'd go for Weaponsmith. I've followed the boards, although Ihaven't posted much, and decided I'd stick with it during and after the temporary nerf to see how things went. I was doing a reasonable bazaar business in cheap DH-17 carbines, until today they stopped selling... either I supplied all the newbs, or the nerfed nerf effect has kicked in. Ah well. At the same time, I finally reached Firearms 3 to go with my Tech 4 and was looking forward to making myself a more powerful carbine, only to find that my old DH-17's are better than my new E11's because of that crappy Plumbum Iron requirement. I admit I don't have the best plumbum around, and I could stand to find some better metal for the other slots, but even then it doesn't look like I'll be able to make an E11 that's better than my DH-17's. Makes me wonder if it's even possible,or if I'll be able to make better weapons with FireArms 4. Or maybe I'll just grind up the munitions tree and make explosives.
I don't have the stats on those weapons available now, but I'll post them later if anyone asks. In the meantime I'll ask what are the best E11 carbine stats from a 7-point Weaponsmith?
As for what I noticed during the nerf: the only thing I tried to craft was a crafting tool, with my master artisan skills. A pre-nerf tool, with 974 CD copper, came out with an effectiveness of 14.22. During the nerf, the same copper produced a 14.11 tool. Small difference, but still, I thought the nerf was supposed to help the masters... oh, right, only the masters with skill-tapes. Hmmm, maybe next year I'll be able to afford a skilll tape... maybe....

Yeah, E-11 rifles and carbines are the red headed step child of weapons. You tagged it with that link to plumbug. I did stick a kyrat power handler on one once and got a 257. Waste of a good POW I know, but had a few to play with.
