Hi, Ive been doing a little grinding ... and I am now 0 2 0 3 WS ...

Ive made a couple of pistols in the hope that I could sell then cheaply at the bazaa, but the wepaon speed is poor ( 4.2 ). Can you please tell me how you guys make weapons (pistols)with much lower speeds? is it through experimentation, or is it all down the the resources used?

I am not only fairly new to weaponsmithing, but SWG in general, and advice on making some guns would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! gawd bells ya guvnor!

Resources are very important, experimentation is very important...

What 'part' of experimentation 'ups' the speed? I have tried efficiency without luck! How important is it to experiment on the components ( barrels and feeding mechanism ) for example?

Damage and speed are the same experiment, but resources dictate how much of both you will get with your 10 points

so what stat of a resources determines the speed/damage? or what stat helps in experimentation?

All statson all gunsare 50/50 oq/conductivity.

If you study the schematic, it shows exactly what each stat relies on(look in the bottom right hand window of the crafting tool).

It will say something like

Condition

50% Overall Quality

50% Conductivity

Or whatever....

That's how you know what stats on what resources you want.

And yes, it is important to experiment on the damage line on components like barrels and power handlers/feed mechanisms in order to get the best possible speed - they all add to the overall results when you put the weapon together.

If you are going to become a full time weaponsmith goto swgcraft and download fooman's tool. It will have everything you need to know in it about weapons, resources etc. You will flounder without it. It is an Excel product with macros that is simply the best thing out there for WS. Make sure you read the guide!

You'll find that most low end gun can be made withgood copper. Copper tends to have a pretty high conductivity and occasionally has good quality. As you move up in the profession you'll probably start to need some decent aluminum, once again this appears to be a resource that can have high end conductivity and Quality. Once you start crafting with steel and iron you'll find that conductivity starts to drop pretty fast. The good news is that projectile weapons component parts use a different stat line (sorry can't remember at the moment). The bad news is that some of your high end guns are goingt to require steel and it just doesn't compare to the conductivity of copper or aluminum.

One of the problems with being on the low end of weaponsmithing is that you're generally going to make weapons that most people don't want to buy. Don't worry about selling them.If you're able to sell a few thats great if not well thats what practice mode is for. When a gun comes up thats substandard use it for practice.Your experimentation will help matters out alot and I would suggest that becomming a master of weapons design (experimentaion line) be your first priority. It's also important to start harvesting resources that you think you're going to need. If it's somthing listed as a resource on your schematics get a head start and stockpile it. Low quality steel is somthing that may help out alot as well. Use it to grind because no one is going to buy it and even if it comes in high percentages you should find places to harvest it.

A list of some resources you're going to need for starters.

Ostine ore- A form of carbonate

Diatum Copper

Phrik Aluminum

Irrolun Reactive Gas

Advanced Blaster Barrels don't really appear to be worth the effort right now, use basic blaster barrels.

Once you have the resources find things to craft that require large amounts to accomplish. You'll get better xp that way.

Given the choice between style over substance. I'll take a sandwich.

Thankyou all... your responses have been very helpful.

Ive ground to 0304 ( pretty much anyway ) and hopefully I'll be able to start making a few pistols that someone wouldn't mind shooting at lil' critters.

Ive just gotta formulate my next question for the forum... about hunting down those bloody resources... LOL

Gawd bless ya all!
