Thread: Weaponsmiths please read
okay i can see what you mean, but I guess what I am trying to accomplish is to make the crafting professions seem more appealing.
It is true that anyone can group together and swap resources and stuff but its also true that a group of imperials can get a full set of stormtrooper armor and roleplay that they are cracking down on rebels.
I guess you can compare my idea to a factory kinda. The way you put in a schematic and have the factory drill out the same weapon or droid or whatever over and over. This is GREAT, i love that idea and concept but I want to have it pushed one baby step forward.
Having Workshops that have sort of "mini-factories" i guess you could say in the form of general crafting stations that take peoples projects in a quo would definitely add more appeal and a more "official" spot where artisan professions can gather.
I guess the bottom line is that people do not roleplay on their own, generally. But by adding something that benefits to roleplaying (artisans working in their workshops) it would make it a whole lot more appealing.
Not to mention my idea of having it so that there are lessbut longer grinding but more xp is, in my opinion, more efficient and less strenuous.
Putting in a schematic into the crafting station's quo that would take a longer time to create but yields more xp would not only free up more time for the artisan, but also makes it a lot easier.
I dont think i thoroughly explained my idea to the fullest as I am a visual learner and explain things a lot easier with visual aids lol, so if I can somehow find the time to make concepts maybe you can see the efficiency of my idea.
ok, you put some work into the plan, but I have to give you a bit more information. Being a Master Weaponsmith and a Master Droid Engineer, and Master Artisan, (pure crafter myself) I no longer hand grind alot of the small stuff. I try to keep 3 item factories going at all times. Makeing the small sub components I need. Some times even with a batch of weapons. At this stage of the proffestion I am no longer grinding.
I exp with an item that the finaly products needs. exp till I get the results I want. Then I put the ingredients and the scim into the factory. I can make anywhere from 5 to 1000 of this item While I sleep or go to work. After I get all the sub components made (for droids for example) I might go ahead and make the final product by hand, Just so I can either make them inperson for a customer (different crafting stations and such) or I run a patch of 20 in the factory with different crafting station. This keeps my vendor well stocked and free my time up to go find better resources or those very rare specific resources needed to make other things.
Same goes with weapons. I dont like to put junk on my vendor. so instead of getting a critical failure on every 5th hand made item. I exp with one till I get the results I want, and make a scim with it. Then run a batch in a factory. why.because a factory doesnt get critical failures.
As far as a crafting shed of building so crafters can gather. This is already kind of in the game. Atleast in a few player cities I know. Mos LIkely on Flurry, has 42 and 43 crafting stations in our PA Mall. Most of us do gather here when making items. swap and sell to each other resources, and subcomponents. This not only builds business relationships with in the pa, but anyone can come and use our facilties, matter of fact, we incourage it.
I dont mean to shoot down your idea, but wanted to give you a bit more information from a triple master crafter.
