Thread: Weapon remap suggestion (just a thought)

I am getting very bored of all lvl54 weapons and that they have made everything else then the lvl54 weapons useless so all run around with the top of the line guns and they look all the same, before CU i had 3-5 different carbines on me and shifted depedning on what enemy i was fighting.


I have a suggestion make allweaponslvl5 as base and you add lvls with placing different components in them so if some one like the D18 pistol can he/she get a lvl54 d18 pistol and, the type of weapon is just skin and effects, that would make more swordsmans use swords and not hammers, Bellow lvl5 i think CDEF guns and the 0 lvl sticks and axes is good, but after lvl5 i think any type of gun or melee weapon can be used as some may use a LVL5 fwg5, Deathhammer or the normal d18 and the lvl80 full blood warrior may take up his DL44, D18 or what ever he wants to use. I miss my DXR6 carbine and my snubnose DH17 carbine since before CU, of course can some weapon still be restricted as the scatter pistol to BH only and so on, but it removes the need of special special heavy duty versions of lower lvl guns as high capacity scatter pistol when a scatter can be lvl5-54 depedning on what a weaponsmith put into it. With this changes i also think the weaponsmith can customize the on the onthe weapon they build as chose if the gun shall ahve special barrel, scope or stock apperance.


Thsi is just an idea i have had since Cu hit live and i want to know if my idea really sux or not, remember i am nto a weaponsmith so i dont know if this is what you guys want, but i am a serious weapon user and i can see this appealing for me.

This is abit of what they did to armoursmiths there the skin doesnt mater only what you put in the gun.

Personally Im very much against the skin approach as IMO it totally kills variety. (every weapon might not look the same, but it will be the same, make the same damage ect.)


I would much prefer if they added reasons to using more types on guns. this could be achieved in a number of ways



  • Elemetal damage as I have suggested in this thread

  • Adding specific skillmods to some of the weapons

  • Having some weapons with no weapon hindrance at the expense of damage (or add a line for us to experiment in this)

  • Make some wepaons have high min dam, but low max dam (as it is now every weapon at the same CL in the same cathegory is practically the same)

  • Having some weapons with very low speed at the expense of dam or accuracy (wheen it starts working) (atm every weapon at the same CL in the same cathegory is practically the same)

All these suggestions I believe to be a much better way to make people use more weapons. If we go the skins way people willl only buy a single weapon at all (it might look different, but it will still be the same as everyone else is using.)


If we could have just one of the above implemented I believe people would start carrying arounda larger range of weapons which woul not only benefit our sales and enjoyment of the profession (we get to craft different things), but would also make for a more interesting and diverse world to look at

How about having skins but the ws can decide what base damage and elemental damage the gun should have. In that way we could get kinetic EE3 with cold damage as secondary and with this mods also decide the lvl on the guns, together with add use for elemental in PvE/PvP to bypass defenses.


What i mean is the WS decide the lvl on the gun depedning on what stuff he puts in it and he also then deicide what damage types he will do with it, the diffrent weapons may have a base lvl and base stats if the ws dont put anything in it, but with some custimizations in crafting can they get total diffrent stats and abilities.


I hvae now seen an elit carbine and a MK2 E11 they had allmost the same stats, but after this oculd you get a DH17 snubnose with this stats but also get totaly diffrent stats depending on how you make it. A kintic elit carbin with acid as secondary elemental damage or a MK2 E11 with energy and cold damage compete with an EE3 with kintic and heat damage.


This may sound strange but the look should be more diverse. Some guns maybe set to do some damage as the lightnign rifle allaways do elecristy as secondary but primary could shift betwen kintic or energy and laser carbine had energy as primary but could do what ever as secondary.


This is just my ideas and nothing i has writen in stone that they are good, i just are bored on all MK2 E11 as master carbineer weapons and all laser rifles. It was more diverced before CU where i could see a use of my DH17, DXR6, EE3 and laser carbine, they had diffrent functions, CU seem to make it all more stupid and less tactical with this.

Might work similar to the way a BE creates pets? The DNA (components) determines the final product...sometimes you miscalculate and get a pet (weapon) that comes up just shy or more than what you wanted...might add some thought, variety and fun to the weapon crafting.


If there was a way to try it out (like on a test-center that DOESN'T mean it's going to live, but actually tested) I'd be for tring it out.
