how bout spawning something else..95% of players are ranged now so resources required for ranged components would help.

3 steel spawns total...yet there are 4 doonium iron spawns(and they blow)..c'mon already..i can barely keep up with the demand on ranged weapons and resources are beginning to dwindle. and does anyone buy melee weaps anymore?..i thought all professions would be balanced. k.. im done.

em - which server are you on?

resource spawns are random - some are rarer than others to create a market for them...

on corbanitis we have a fair scattr of spawns all the time..

Random is a computer science impossibility. However, you are missing the point of this person's post....

There has been what has been known as the "iron bug" in play for a rather long time. For a while only iron would spawn in numerous amounts and then maybe one steel one copper etc. except for the shipwright resources. I haven't ever noticed a developer acknowledge this as a bug, nor do I think they will. I would like to see it fixed also. Being that I dropped weaponsmith and started gathering resources, I pretty much skip over any spawn of iron because it won't sell due to the fact that there are so many irons in shift at the same time its crazy.

have the devs ever said this was an acual bug?? in the real world or galaxie many planets have a much higher iron content than others.. ive noticed this in game too. some planets have better irons or some are more likely to have a singel rare spawn that shows up no where.. rori and dath are famous for this. i love good iron its one of the most usefull metals in the game. it should be common with out good iron people would be hurting big time

SWG is not real life. And yes it is a bug, because I remember the times before this bug . And no the devs don't acknowledge it, they don't acknowledge half the bugs they fix anyways. If they acknowledge it then it must go in the patch notes, if they don't then it doesn't . Lots of stuff is stealth fixed, its just the way it is always been. Now can we get this stealth fixed?

Resource spawns are not random.

Read this.

It's an impressive empirical piece of research.

no your right they definatlly are NOT random.. there are trends in resources shifts.. if you have been tracking shifts and been a miner since launch you would know this

Now seeing many of you have not.. let me tell you for sure that each planet has its own characteristics, each resource type has a rarity lvl for being good. and some resources have a rarity lvl for even spawning. Some stuff is always around and always seams to be good.. Prime examples are kammaris iron and durrally steel. Granted they might not always have a high OQ or Con but they shock+decay+tough+ heat is always up there which is why they are prim building blocks.

Yes i know this is not real life but there are many things in RL that this game follows trends. I have seen times recently that there has been 1-2 irons and 5 steels in shift.. soo what is this the steel bug now?? or times when all there seamed to be was aluminium.. or no extrusive ore anywhere for 3 shifts in a row.. what are these all bugs to? resources are the one thing that adds flavor to this game and also gives us artisans (miner class) an acually viable way to make cash.. before the new food we sure where not getting rich off bone armor and power ups.

As it is reasource kits have killed the super rare materials but good miners can blow away any resource deeed users stocks. Ill stick by my guns and say there is no iron bug its all in your imagineation cuase you have been waiting for something too long. I waited for krillium steel for 8 months for a good one.. was that a bug to? i dont think soo.. it what makes a reource guys month or yearfinding a rare on a single planet and being the first to drop on 95%. Crafting has gottong enough nerfs.. we dont need a resource nerf too.. resources have trends.. follow them.. there are some planets that never seam to have more than 1 or 2 irons at all..and always have 4-5 ores.. /sigh must be a bug

Um, yeah so I went to SWGCraft, guess I should have done that first before posting. The bug is gone. I haven't crafted in like 3 weeks, and thus haven't looked at SwgCraft for quite some time.

Don't belittle me by trying to tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I know what I am talking about, and if you weren't around for the "iron bug" then that is your own fault. As you may have seen I said resource spawns aren't truly random. Afterall it is a computer science improbability, and some would argue a logical impossibility. \

My point about SWG not being RL still follows. I hate when people offer explanations via comparison with real life. Maybe its a pet peeve, however all SWG questions can be answered with relativity to SWG and no need to bring RL into it.

So true..If I never see Kammris Iron with 992 SR again it will be too soon (Kett had 3 spawns back to back to back of Kam with over 950sr)

I agree with the original poster. I do remember how resources were before the iron glut began. We had far more spawns of copper and aluminum than we do today. The "iron bug" started with the last major publish before JTL was released.

On my server we are running low on good Phrik aluminum. There isn't much Phrik to be had and the stuff that there is has a low OQ. This will eventually make it hard to make a decent adv power handler. Right now there are only two non-JTL aluminums and they are both low quality chromium.

Iron is simply crowding out the other resources and it has been for quite some time.
