Thread: Are Crafters being Phased out?

Think about it. Before the CU, equipment was what made some one different then someoneelse, so the crafters were a vital part of thegame. The devs havesaid many times that they didnt want that and we have a new skill baised system. This would all be well and good as a player would still need a weaponsmith to get their weapon. But most of the weapons we can make now are not as good as mission reward loot. And then there is the actual levels. If you are a crafter you are at a huge disadvantagebecause you are capped at around level60. This level cap stops many from becomming crafters because it is seen as a handicap. Their responce to crafters getting resources in dangerious areas was to hire some bodyguards. It seems to me most crafters are stuborn old timers who wont take the hint (/raise hand).SOE has given the first few warning signs that crafters are up for the axe.Please, if any dev reads this tell me I am wrong (And if you do reply you might as well tell us what your plans for crafters are because ATM it looks like we are going to way ofTauntaus on Tatooine)

I would have to say you are completely wrong. Although the items coming out of Kashyyk are very nice, the average player doesn't have enough to afford multiple ADK's (although prices are coming down). So basically they would end up just using up these very nice items and then what? They would still need to return to you.


Although I think they made it a lot harder, there is still room for crafters to make those items that they craft better than these quest items.

I read a post by (T.H. I think) that saidfrom here and forward there will be a fairly close mix of quest rewards and new craftable items, but it will not be all of one and none of the other. I will say that I have a crafter alt and its disappointing to not be able to make all of the new stuff that came out. Shipwrights, armorsmiths, weaponsmiths and architects were all kind of hit with this in RoTW. There are quest items that each respective profession could have been given a way to do quests or there being lootable limited use schematics to play with.

allthough some of the Kasyyyk weapons are nice - all of my krayt enhanced weapons i sell are 20-30 base dps higher (well for ranged weapons at least.)


with simular action/accuracy i can do this


eg proton carbine - 325 base dps -- krayt elite carbine by A'ru - 345 base dps


and many more examples -


the only real proff that has great Wookie weapons is TK and Polearms - those i cant get close to.. unless i can find a NSEL schem

Just curious what your unenhanced Elite base dpsis and what kind of tissues you use to get to 345 dps and what your action cost is.

but you will needd ALOT nicer tissues than that to compete with the quest reward weapons SAC aswell as there dps , in the long run quest weapons are supperior to any krayt weapon we can knock up .

The key is getting some high speed tissues for handlers.I think Advanced componentsCap at -2.0 speed . My base handlers are at about -0.5. so -1.5 tissues will cap them and allow me to exp sac, and i would expect to get -8, as opposed to +4. However, even with these ultra good tissues, your SAC will still be around 100-106 on the final combine, which is still a ways off the looted weaps SAC.


Experimenting SAC on barrels means you will lose DPS. Hopefully we will get some high speed/low sac barrels from loot, otherwise, as Alita says, its going to be hard to match the looted weaps even with uber tissues.


However, if you combine the tissueswith pre-cu barrels (-10 sac over post cu) and stocks (-7 sac over post cu)it will give you an extra -17 SAC. In that case you'll exceed the looted weapons DPS with decent tissues, and probably have similiar or better SAC.
