Thread: DPS vs. SAC ?
Yepp i tested this last night:
1 was Low SAC, 84 and had a base DPS of 243, the other was high DPS and had a SAC of 120 and a base DPS of 286 (both sliced). Damage sliced seemed to have 1 DPS more then Speed sliced. (All got the same slice results, so matter how the PH got crafted. So either x% speed or y% damage. So the slice possibility isn't tied to the stats of the weapon, but to the weapon Type (or resources used))
When I used both PH's with my Melee character, I had 423 DPS with the low SAC one and 496 DPS with the High DPS one, so it was 75 damage/hit (without modifiers).Considering the lower SAC gives me 1 extra attack every 3 attacks, that would give me 423-225=198 more damage then the High DPs one. So it seems that SAC does matter. ![]()
For my alt, I make either high-damage or low-SAC weapons, never spend one single point on speed.
Customers mostly ask for DPS though :/
I'm finding that the headline DPS is what sells, even though they might not be the best weapons for each individual. Most post CU weapsseem to be labelled with DPS, so if yours is the highest, buyers will look at your weap first after a vendor search.
Second; Price, i dont want to spend millions on a gun.
Third; Looks, gotta look good when killing stuff
Fourth; dps, high damage is allways nice.
Fifth; Usage, can i actualy use this new wonder im about to spend 30K for.
For custom weapons, I always ask my customers what they need and make the weapon accordingly. My customers seem to be pretty evenly split between preferring SAC or DPS. I've also noticed that riflemen seem to prefer low SAC while pistoleers seem to prefer high dps.
Some customers initially find it odd that I ask them a lot of questions, but they all seem satisfied with the final product. For those that don't care, the vendor works fine.

Specials in the CU arent ment to be "spammed" they are meant for tatical decisions on when to use them. Some cost more, some cost less, depending on the ability. Specils are designed to be use at different intervals in a fight. People are still trying to fight the old way under the new system and are finding themselves out of action a lot because they are spamming.
I am finding that my sales of very accurate weapons are doing REAL well. My advanced weapons have accuracy bonuses of +19 with my current scopes. On my server I have not seen many others do this, everything right now is so focused on DPS and overall damage, but I think people will come around to more accuracy.
What good is all that DPS and over all dmg if you can't hit your traget worth a crap?
I am not sure that the part about some specials costing more and some less is correct. I might be very wrong but isnt that the point of the sac? the sac is the cost for any special and it only changes based on the weapon and not on the special?? And we are not spamming the same special over and over, its one special on one timer, then a different special on another timer, etc. and of course you are going to spam them or else you are just standing there waiting while you could be shooting.
DPS is the be all end all of post-CU crafting. Keep in mind that there are no modifiers to damage for any of the players; damage then is the most important part, and their modified DPS will be based on their speed mods. However, having a high base DPS is important, and people will always ask about that. No one has ever asked me about Special Attack Costs; it just isn't important when compared to damage output.
At this point after the CU some people are still unclear about what they're certified for. I recommend memorizing the req'd levels, as well as changing the titles of the weapons you craft to include the requirements of the weapon. This will really help the customers pick something they can use.
Let me know if you need anything else.
