Thread: Poll How do you set a price on custom order with looted items?

I am just wondering how weaponsmiths determine the price on a weapon when someone provides the looted item to make it. What prices are the norm for ranged and melee weapons when someone provides say, tissue, shards, bones, etc..?

I had someone offer to make a czerka dart for 1mil with me providing the gorax shards. Just wondering how that fits in with the avg. My last gun only cost 45k and I had the tissues.

You are paying for the weaponsmith's time mostly. Other than that the resources. When making a czerka carbine you need to make 5 projectile feed mechs from 6 gorax shards and then assemble the weapon. Its time in the factory to make the gorax enhanced items and then to asseble your item that the weaponsmith charges for.

I used to charge 10k cause I liked to make cool weapons but after being swamped with requests and orders I upped it to 25k then after a little while just stopped doing custom orders cause I didnt have time. I would have people tip me 100k and more when I gave them back there awesome weapons and that was nice.

In conclusion, I know this is long, I think 1 million is a little much but sometimes you get what you pay for and also some weaponsmiths need motivation for them to do custom orders. IF you are paying that much make sure you get the best and also look around, you can probably find someone willing to make your stuff a lot cheaper and with the same quality.

paying 1 million for any gun when you provide the enhancers is excessive no matter what galaxy you are in!

I have tried all sorts of different pricing schemes including one based on weighing DPS and SAC. The one I have settled with is rating the resources according to their stats (so better resources cost more) ... my prices vary from 20cpu to 70 cpu and that includes labor.

Then I apply a profit marginbasedon the CL rating of the weapon (1-13, 14, 22, 30, 40, 50 and above). That comes out to charging 5k for a Striker Pistol and 60k for an Adv Laser Rifle w/o enhancers.

On enhancers it really then depends on what the economy is in your server. I usually will apply a 25-50% markup on the price I have paid on top of that.

I find I am competitive with the other WSs in my server and my pricing is structured .... that's just my preference!

Hope this helps a bit!

I usually charge about 75K-100k per custom craft, so if I run handlers and a weapon, that's probably 150k-200k and if I just build a weapon it's probably 100k. I've spent hundreds of hours over 18 months and tens of millions of dollars all to enable me to build the best weapons I can. I"ve got FS experimentation/assembly, 12 pt suit, etc. Based on those factors I feel I could double my price and still consider myself very reasonably priced.

If the customer supplies the enhancements, I charge them whatever the price of a base model is on my vendors.

If I supply the enhancements, I charge 10% above my cost for the enhancements, plus the cost of a base model.

what you need to figure is, how much is your time worth. I really don't make too many weapons, my ws is just for personal and guild use. But you need to figure how much time will you spend making the weapon, and how much would it take to motiveate you to do so.

If people want the best they go to someone who has spent the time and effort to become the best crafter possible. Doing one galaxy search is all I need to know that I'm one of the better ones in my entire galaxy.

The time and effort it took me to get that way is what they being charged for along with the time it took to hunt down and buy/farm my resources and the time/bespin/pyrollian it took to make the absolute best of the best subcomponent schematics (barrels, stocks, scopes).

You'd be amazed at how many 12pt WS out there think they're uber l337 but yet dont use advanced stocksbecause they think itmakes their weapons too slow or dump all of their points in damage on the APBH and wonder why the weapon just doesn't turn out right.

I use pre-cu components and charge 225k for pistols, 250k for rifles/carbs. I'm considering increasing the cost to 400k each craft due to the increased demand of the new BH loot. I logged in last night and it was 2hrs before I could do anything besides craft, ended up making 7 custom weapons (yes I use food).

Well since I don't get a heck of a lot of business with my small weaponsmithing (though, I can make some pretty dang good stuff! Just gotta get noticed) on Valcyn...I just charge for the basic price. Namely because the cost and time for factories are already incorporated in my pricing formulas.

Now if I was swamped with orders, I would most likely charge a bit extra for the extra demand. But honestly? If you charge hundreds of thousands or even millions to craft a weapon that your customer did the hard part (finding and getting the loot), not you, thats just way too much. Folks will look for the best and the cheapest, and you could very well lose customers if you really overcharge.

take your time into consideration. If someone is pulling you away from a grinding group or something that you are in the middle of, then charge them up the rear to make it worth your while.

If you are dead as hell board off your ass then charge them what you see fit.

I just increased my prices to 500k per when my WS is already logged in. This is for Pre CU components. My time and effort storing and maintaining 100's of millions of resoruces. The resources I use. The time and $$ for providing the extra lots to store all my goods, and a few other things that I use to justify loosing a vendor sale/profit because someone waited until they looted or bought the component enhancements.

Guild members are free, and people who are very good at offering items to my vendor will get free assembly.

But you charge what you feel is worth your while.
