Thread: Adv. Blaster Rifle Barrels designed to be weak?

These Barrels require out right 40 of Rhodium Steel and your other steels. The experimentation depends upon 66% conductivity and 33% SR. Now on Flurry according to SWGcraft Rhodium has never broke 80 in its conductivity attribute and SR is around 500. Not to mention the other steels required for the barrel are usually low in these characteristics. My first question, why is Conductivity a major consideration in a component that simply allows something to pass through it and should be able to Resist Heat (HR).. Hence why not HR and UT for the attributes? Just wondering why it was decided this way. It is set up to never be a component that WeaponSmiths will be able to experiment well with.

For the same reason that lightsabers do kinetic damage and tusken rifles do energy damage(what happened to the projectile?). Someone up there was not thinking

It is intended to be held back by the low quality of the required resources. Many such items exist in the game. Don't think of it is "my items are being held back from their true potential by gated resources." Rather, the devs chose those specific resources for those specific items so that they would have the stats they do.

Now, that being said, certain items (like both the advanced blaster barrels) aren't really in synch with the rest of WS components. Most advanced components are roughly twice as good as their normal counterparts, but blaster barrels aren't even worth using until you've collected the absolute best of resources, and even then they're not always desireable.

Unfortunately, there's not really any point in addressing this issue at the moment. As with most issues concerning us at this time, this is something else that we'll need to wait until the combat balance for. Since we don't really know how the whole thing is going to shake out, any requests we make at this point will just get a "wait and see" response for right now. So that's what we'll have to do.

Where is our correspondent and why are we not getting answers to these types of questions?

a) We have a correspondent problem.

b) We have a (increasingly) broken profession.

We're not getting answers to ANY questions that have to do with balance, weapon type,or weapon statistics, and we're not going to get any answers until the combat balance is worked out. The devs will be completely reworking all these items, so any questions we have about them now, will likely be moot once the balance is worked out. They will not tell us anything about it yet, because they haven't done it yet, and i'm sure you've seen by now what happens when they tell people something that doesn't end up happening.

There is nothing that Logix can do. Thesetypes ofissues have been brought up before, and they repeatedly give us the same answer... "Wait til the CB." That's the only answer we're going to get. So what exactly do you want to happen?

the advanced barrels do improve on the damage marginally but the major advantage to them is the increased accuracy

gated resources can be a pain so when I am skimming through swgcraft and a new resource pops up i always check my inventory as well as the resource caps to make sure i know if i need it or not

I was just going to say the same thing as tehedin when I read his post. Advanced barrels as they exist today aren't about better damage, they're about better accuracy. With defense stacking being as popular as it is, better accuracy is still a good thing.
