To my fellow brethren,
I'm a new master weaponsmith, but in my limited experience I have seen something that puzzles me. I see people seeing Schematics, components, etc at astronomical prices. I mean 50K+ for a yellow power cube seems ridicules. How do we as weaponsmith, which really dictate the prices of these looted items we need, make money?
Here is a good example. These prices are from recent sells on the Trade Forums
Scythe Blade Schematic = 750K
Genosian Sword Schematic = 5-10K
5 Yellow Power Cubes = 250K
Plus the highest SR rating Phrik Aluminum and Carbonite Steel and can’t forget the Neutronium Steel for the cores, brings you to a grand total of 910K+ to make 2 Sycthe Blades. So that's a cost of 455K credits for each. Now I know you can find pretty good Genosian Sword Core loots but the ones that are better than what a Master Weaponsmith can make are expensive as well. Can you really get decent profit from an item that cost you 455K to make? And god forbids you get a critical failure.
I understand that making these special and rare weapons should be more expensive than a normal weapon that any Weaponsmith can make but my point is that we as weaponsmith truly dictate the price of these loots. Should 7 identical Krayt Tissue +30dmg be worth 1 million credits? How can we really make money on this?
Just my 2 cents, might not even be worth that

Might help if I could add. The total cost on that sycthe should be 1,010,000 credits. Ouch.

By charging 1.5 million credits for the finished gun. And as long as the combat classes will pay that much, tissues will stay that expensive.

On Wanderhome I put a set price on what I will buy Krayt tissues. +30's in a set of 7 or less 90k and 8 or more 100k. They were selling at 250-300k each at one time. I found 2 krayt hunters that were willing to sell to me at that price. I then put my weapons for sale at the cost of tissue + a % + the cost of weapon. Since that Krayt tissues on wanderhome ahve droped to very near the price that I set. My business partner adoped the same pricing scheme. Since we were 2 big trade forum spenders and stoped putting our money into krayt tissues people started offering them directly. And if someone wanted 10k more per tissue, I woould tell them to go elsewhere. But it has helped the economy and kept weapons prices down.

Selling Scythe Blades is the quickest way to start making money!
I have the resources all in place, and here's what I buy, and what I make from it...
1 x Scythe Scematic (2 Uses) = 500-600k
2 x sets of 7 identical GREEN or RED Cubes = 140-200k
2 x sets of 7 identical Solidifying Agents = 140-200k
So, total spent = a max of 1 million creds...(not counting resources)
From that, I can make two factory runs of 2 scythe blades = 4 Scythes.
My scythes are normally in the range of 182-321 damage at 2.6 speed, and I have no problem shifting them for 500k. Thats a taking of 2 million credits in a day for an investment of 1 million credits.
Occasionally (like what i'm going to do tomorrow) is make ONE factory run and one Blade from very good looted sword cores (33-67 with -0.57 speed +24 Range Mods and 6/6/7 HAM cost). If all goes well, that scythe will sell for over 700k (should have stast like 181-345 at 2.5 speed unsliced).
Since the price increase in the schematic (was about 300k 2 months ago) people are willing to pay over the odds for blades. I rarely have my blades for more than 12 hours befpre they sell out...
As has been stated before, the Krayt tissues are worth it if you can find your market! The can easily sell for 300k upwards, and a set of 7 tissues can make 7 of these "low-cost krayt weapons". So there, for 1 million, you will make 2,1 million.
The real money-spinner is getting a hold of a Genosian Pistol Schematic. From what i've heard it's a 5-use schematic and can make a total of 20 pistols. Now, these pistols are vital in PvP and sell for no less than 300k, so thats 6 million total income. The problem is the schematic costs upwards of 1 million, but when put together with Krayt Tissue, you have a huge opportunity!
There isn't a lot of money in the standard weapons (apart from T21's and Stun Batons) so as soon as you can, get into the enhanced and looted weapons market!
Please note, all prices based on the Euro-Chimaera Server and may not apply to your server.

Oh, and following up on something...
Us weaponsmiths don't really set the price on these rare loots, as someone somewhere with big bucks always needs them for their own use, and spend big to secure the item. Often that person isnt a WS but will have a WS craft the items for them...

Buying off the forums does not the cheapest weapon make !
I try to do the following. Talk to a customer who is looking for a scythe,
Either craft for them at 100k per scythe. Or offer to make it free if you get the other use of the schematic.
Once this has been achieved you can start shopping for cubes/cores and use the procedes to move forward.
Pray (I usually use a sacrificed animal) for a 25% + damage slice and wealth shall be yours.

What I did was:
Get master swordsman to go alongside my master weaponsmith and go loot the stuff myself
Though I have a great guild who tend to drop huge quantities of geo loot on my vendor far too regularly
Which helps a lot too...
Still not looted a geo blaster schematic though
And this despite spending many hours killing mercenaries in the geo cave...

howdy;
It all boils down to what you want or need from this galaxy. If into money, go the Special Edition route. If into meeting people and having a great time selling stuff, make good standard weapons at fair (cheap) prices.
Either way, you will amass millions over time. One of the reasons so many WS fade out is they go for the Money and Riches. After 30 or 40 million credits, where is the incentive to continue selling the darn things.
I prefer to sell good regular stock and have a great time myself. <- Also why I am prolly the poorest WS in the galaxy <grin>.

Just steer clear of the all to uncommon loots altogether. It is not worth the time especially if you crit fail on an assembly, and then your in real trouble. Any time anyone asks me for the scythe I tell them that they must obtain the resources themselves. Why make these items when you can sell T21s for a sweet song, and you can make lowlevel weapons at a decent profit. Besides sometimes a bad slice can about destroy the value of some of these items.
Personally I have decided not to participate in the gouge market as it is. To those that want to spend 3 million credits for one gun I salute you. I would never spend that much for any gun its way out of line.
